This is really a rarely seen example of antique Japanese ceramic art: impressive Katakuchi Chawan (tea bowl with a spout), made of unrefined Mino clay. Katakuchi chawans of that age are barely available on the antique market. It is the only one in our collection. So take your chance.

Antique Chinese rug from the Bautou area, woven with a pair of cranes and a pair of deer. The cranes fly in a sky of deep indigo beneath a large pine tree. In the foreground is a pair of deer, one with antlers and white spots and one without. One of the deer is nibbling tufts of lingzhi. 19th century. Size: 67" long x37 1/2" wide.

Antique Japanese sumidagawa ware vase with an incredibly realistic three-dimensional dragon coiled all around the body of the vase. The vase itself is very textured in body with a vertically ribbed form as well as tight ridges horizontally. The upper body and neck are glazed in thick oil spill colors. The backside of the piece has a blue chop within a white gourd. Meiji period (1868-1912) Size: 18" H x 10" W

Beautiful antique Chinese snuff bottle carved all of dark agate. The stone is so smokey and dark it appears almost black but has lovely clouds of deep orange on one side. On the reverse side of the bottle, classic agate striations can be seen ranging from almost black to very thin areas of almost clear translucency. The lid of the bottle is made of a brighter orange agate and has long since lost it's spoon. The bottle is carved into an ovoid form and is pleasingly smooth and balanced...

A beautiful Chinese Pao Tao Peking rug, hand-woven in deep navy, medium blue, light blue, and cream colors. It depicts mirrored images of a deer and crane, a popular Buddhist motif also called the Six Harmonies, representing everything on earth under heaven, bordered by geometric scrolling patterns. 19th century. Antique Japanese large onigawara roof tile end cap. This beautiful tile was made in the toukigawara method with a hollow interior. It once graced the roof of a large building, perhaps a temple or an important house. It has a raised Tomoe crest (mon) in the center which is surrounded by wonderfully three dimensional swirling clouds and topped with it's own roof. Meiji Period (1868-1912). Size: 20" high x 22" wide x 12 1/2" deep.

Antique Japanese Onigawara rooftile, often found on Buddhist temples. This rooftree depicts the lucky god Daikoku's hammer for prosperity and good fortune, with cascading waters down its sides. Meiji age (1868-1912) Size: 24" L x 6" W x 19" H

Rare Antique Chinese large Ming celadon charger, with scalloped edges Grad-onfoliated edges. Center incised with delicate floral motifs. Areas of foot left bare with Bracketed Rim.
Longquan celadon (龍泉青瓷) refers to Chinese celadon produced in Longquan (龍泉) kilns which were largely located in Lishui prefecture in southwestern Zhejiang Province...

Chinese Song style ceramic tripod censer of a short cylindrical form, edges ribbed in three sections, glazed in pale green/blue crackle, bare area on bottom with imprinted cartouche. Size: 3" H x 4" W

A bronze Lion with its original dark patination made in China, possibly as a censer, during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644, most likely during the 16th or early 17th Century. Condition: there are some very old losses to the applied decoration - a part of the "beard" is missing,the right ear has been re-attached and the base has an old wood block infill; there has been no restoration. 14.5cm (5.7 inches)high; 14cm (5 inches) across.

A large dish with upturned rim of shakuzara size (10 sun or 30cm in diameter) decorated with an unusually geometric pattern based upon an eight pointed star, hachibosei, with a central roundel reserve containing a Peony painted in a gilt outlined technique typical of the late mid Edo period. Framed by eight further triangular brocade blocks, four with a y diaper iron red ground with chrysanthemum mon, and four with a diaper ground with purple and green enamels...

A Japanese Imari chocolate cup, cover and saucer made for export to the European market dating to the early 18th century. Decorated with a rich Imari style ground of stylised palmate leaves and Peony blooms inset with ogee form reserves with Chinese style estuarine landscapes. An overlapping lotus petal border to the base of the beaker in underglaze blue The saucer and beaker are in excellent condition. The cover has been broken but has been cleanly re-stuck creating an almost invisible repair...

Mirror finely cast in the shape of a flaming "triratna", its stand framed by two small "apsaras". Bronze, with nice green and red patina. Traces of "tika" on some areas. Nepal, 18th century. Height: 20 cm. Erosion due to age, otherwise very good condition.

Relief fragment finely carved with a strong Greek aesthetic influence, representing a yakshi in a niche, wearing a diadem, a necklace and a robe, holding a branch with her right hand. Grey schist. Pakistan, Gandharan Greaco-Buddhist art, 1st to 3rd century. Height: 14 cm. The relief is nicely mounted on a custom stand made of green marble. Good condition. Provenance: old British collection.
