Chinese Tang Dynasty Glazed Stoneware Tray & Wine Cup Set

This high-fired sturdy dish with eight accompanying cups was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). The finely-crackled and thin pale straw-coloured glaze was used sparingly, covering only the inner and outer edges of the dish, as well as the inner and upper outer surfaces of the cups. The glaze is so thin that in places on both the dish and the cups it has degraded and flaked from the surface...

A vibrant bowl in the shape of an aubergine decorated with soaring cranes and clouds by Heian Isso enclosed in the original artist signed wooden box, the inside of which is decorated with a wispy poem by friend and compatriot Otagaki Rengetsu. The bowl is large at 26 x 29.5 x 7 cm (10 x 11-1/2 x 3 inches) and is in excellent condition. This is a very interesting piece, clearly made by Isso, but the box decorated by Rengetsu, showing the depth of their friendship and artist relationship...

The early Aguilar hallmarks on this piece indicate it was designed and made between 1948-1955. Weighing 90 grams the bracelet measures 1" X 7" but will comfortably fit up to a 6 3/4" wrist. The bracelet has a beautifully aged patina with some surface wear & a pin head size ding noticed on close inspection. This bracelet is pictured on p. 64 of SILVER MASTERS OF MEXICO by Penny C. Morrill.
