One of Salvador Teran's most impressive creations, the "Dancers" are the epitome of modernist Mexican jewelry design. Not very easy to find and avidly sought after, it gives out a strong sense of motion and harmony that is very difficult to achieve. In my opinion the best Mexican modernist designer, Salvador Teran was a maestro of many talents and created some of the most striking pieces of Taxco jewelry. Offered here is his signature "Moon and Star" bracelet, which aptly demonstrates his ability to create exceptional minimalist pieces. Pair of Chinese yoke back arm chairs. Late 19th century. Shanxi province. Elmwood. Dimensions: 43.5 inches height x 25.25 inches width x 22 inches depth. Seat height is 19.5 inches. Each chair has a back splat with carved figural panels. Condition: repair to break on one arm, replaced glue blocks on undersides of seats, some scuffing to one side stretcher on base. Structurally sound.

Large Federal style giltwood girandole mirror with convex glass, surmounted with a fully figured, carved and ebonized eagle with outstretched wings above an acanthus leaf crest. Early 20th century. Size: 42 inches width x 11 inches depth x 55 inches height. The convex mirror measures 22 inches in diameter and is encircled by bands of gilded balls and ebonized stars, between four girandole electrified candle arms. This mirror is in excellent original condition and has modern wiring.

Description:

A bronze Shakyamuni buddha was kept in very good condition.
Had been gilt on the surface but just faded, there are only traces left in the pleats.
It was rarely found that the under cover at the bottom was original when tickling sound was heard inside the hollow base.
It hinted that the original devotion items were still kept within after 600 years.

Tiffany Studios - Zodiac pattern - hexagonal bronze inkwell. Circa 1915. Including the original glass inkwell insert (with internal fracture to the glass). Size: 6.75 inches x 6.25 inches x 3.5 inches ht. Excellent condition.

Rookwood Pottery vellum glaze vase adorned with a blue iris against a matt glaze background that shades from dark blue to light blue and finally into peach. Decorated by Caroline Steinle, 1913. In earlier centuries, large numbers of "holy men" wandered throughout India's cities and countrysides. The Sadhus were respected as Hindu ascetics who had given up family attachments and material possessions often including clothing. Without shoes and wearing only hand hewn sandals they would wander about some silent and some preaching. Miss matched, this is a typical pair of Sadhu's sandals, hand carved and well worn and polished through years of foot contact.

Description:

A soapstone seal was well carved to top with a crouching Bixie.
Two Chinese word Qing Sun(Casually Treasuring) was regularly carved on printing side.
Inscriptions were on the side too.
The stone was in warm brownish tint and in greasy feel.

Pair of patinated bronze argand lamps by John B. Jones of Boston, MA. Each lamp has a floral finial and an urn-form fluid reservoir. Circa 1830-40s. These lamps have been electrified but have not been drilled. One of the wheel-cut glass shades has a minor chip and line at the top rim. Dimensions: 19 inches ht. x 11 inches length x 5 inches depth. Excellent condition. With label of John B. Jones.

Description:

A Zitan cup was carved from one piece of wood block.
Finely carved handle was made to imitate the bamboo stalks.
It was in perfect condition.
There're carving lines on the handle. They were not cracks.
Minute wood grains were yielded as shallow cracks at the bottom.
