A Kutani Kaburagi lidded bowl painted with symbols of prosperity and longevity in multi-colored enamels and gold. The Golden Hammer (uchide-no-kozuchi) that serves as the handle for the lid, is the symbol of Daitoku, one of the 7 lucky gods. Legend has it, if you shake the hammer, it brings wealth. Around the outer bowl, there are storks (symbols of longevity) nestled inside stylized pine needle formations...

This Boucher gold plated choker is rounded and is threaded on coiled wire which makes it very flexible and so it molds nicely around the neck. Intricate design work and Boucher's fine crafting make this piece highly desireable and very wearable. Boucher mark on the back along with pat. pen. and some illegible numbers. 13 1/2" around the inside, 7/8" wide.

This style of Rattan helmet was worn by all foot soldiers during the Qing Dynasty. This helmet retains traces of its original painted symbols, no longer readable, it is presumed that they indicated specific troop or brigade to which the owner belonged.

Description: An elegant porcelain water basin was in light celadon tint. In a rolled lip, shallow belly and flat but well shaped foot ring, the water basin had a beautiful image with strong scholar mood. Natural ice cracks were yielded under the glaze at the bottom of the basin when one minor glaze burst had happened in the cavetto due to firing. Brownish finish was preserved at the foot ring. Early William III Britannia standard silver trefid tablespoon, London, 1699, by silversmith Francis Archbold, length 7.25 inches. The shallow bowl gilded on the interior and with a double ribbed and beaded rat tail. The upturned handle's terminal is cut with two notches. Hallmarks are quite well struck apart from the date letter which is worn but still legible. The higher Britannia silver standard of 95.84% was introduced in 1697 but is rarely found after 1730...

Used by Tibetan Buddhist Monks and Priests, this old prayer wheel is adorned with an ornate silk fringed top. The copper barrel has a narrow silver collar with 3 coral beads and a traditional design is pressed into the silver bottom. The heavy lead weight will keep the prayer wheel spinning smoothly atop the hand hewn wooden handle. This prayer wheel is approximately 12 inches long.

Description: An old bamboo carving of a toad was finely rendered. Making use of the natural form of a bamboo root, the craftsman skillfully depicted the frog in a crouching position. By vivid depiction, the frog was alive and animated as she should be in the weeds...

A fox sits wrapped up like the Daruma, a humorous image by long time head priest of Kenninji Temple Takeda Mokurai (1854-1930) in light ink on paper. The scroll has been fully remounted in dark forest border extended with beige and features black lacquered wooden rollers. It is 18 by 47-1/2 inches (45.5 x 120.5 cm) and in excellent condition.
