Kokeshi, wooden folk toy of NE Japan. Height: 12". This is an example of the "Yajiro-kei" tradition of Miyagi Prefecture. The artisan is Ishikawa Tokujirou, and is signed that he made it at the age of 69 years old. I have been unable to find his birth record, but believe this kokeshi to have been made during the 1970's or 1980's. Here is a fine squat jar form vase, the deep red clay covered in fish-eyed tenmoku glaze by Living National Treasure (Ningen Kokuho) Shimizu Uichi (1926-2004), enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Iron red shows through with startling effect like meteorites in a dark night sky of blue and brown. It measures 6-1/2 inches (16.5 cm) tall, the same diameter. Shimizu is known for the soft persimmon red temmoku (iron oxide) glaze, as well as crackled white and celadon glazes...

Cranes cut on the frosted surface rise from ice blue, their necks curling out as handles as they preen. A quintessentially Japanese subject executed with impeccable Japanese craftsmanship. The vase is 11 inches (28 cm) tall, 6-1/2 inches (16.5 cm) diameter and in perfect condition; enclosed in a covered wooden box.

Japanese limited edition sosaku hanga “kappa-ban” (stencil print) titled “Samurai with an Umbrella” by Yoshitoshi Mori (1898-1992). The print is pencil-signed with the artist's red seal, dated ’82, and numbered 34/50. The bottom right corner has a small "80" in pencil. Paper size: 20 1/4" x 13 1/2." Very good, clean overall condition. A tiny pencil notation with a prior owner's name "Hansen" is on the back bottom edge.

Louis Vuitton brass paperweight, produced by Louis Vuitton in the early 1980's, was made to resemble a Louis Vuitton trunk right down to the locks and handles. This heavy (4.5 ounce) solid brass weight measures 2 inches (5 cm) Long, 1 inch (2.5 cm) Wide and 5/8 inch (1.6 cm) Tall. There is a scratch on the bottom that is visible in the photographs, which can be buffed out, but otherwise this is in excellent condition. Comes with a Louis Vuitton box...

An 18K yellow gold Bismarck style flat link chain Necklace weighing 11.4 Grams. This 16-1/2" beauty is 1/8" wide and it has a lobster claw clasp. It is stamped 18K PAT with an M maker's mark. MS-12 signed, Matl Salas, and after 1980 earrings are hard to find. The length is 3 inches long. These are pierced ears and a pair of stabilizer backs for comfort are included. No dents or damage.

This pair of Matl Salas (after 1978) clip earrings are repousse that is magnificently carved. They are birds in flight with an enviable presence. These are difficult to obtain in this large size, no damage and the clips are nice and tight. The height is 1 3/8th in. and they are 2.25in. across.
