Matilde Poulat Matl signed Moth brooch with an obsidian stone in the center captures the old Mexico City Folkloric work. Poulat's work is collected and remains on of the most rare works from the Spratling era of the Mexican Silver Renaissance. Dimensions are 2.25in. wide and 2.25in. across. The stone has no chips or worries of any kind. The repousse is thick and weighs 21 grams heavy.

The 100 Bird Cape is sometimes mistaken by Westerners as a Miao baby carrier. In fact, the 100 bird cape is a man's garment. It would be worn on the back, over the 100 bird coat for special festivals. They are somewhat rare. Not all men could afford (actually the wives) the time and matterials to make such a garment. It takes over a year to collect the feathers for the cape because the feathers must come from birds which were ritually sacrificed. This is a particularly rare cape...

This Matilde Poulat Matl bracelet is huge at 2.25in. face front. The carving on the feathers is meticulous. The length is 7in. long and it weighs a hefty 74 grams. The hallmark is one of Matilde's oldest. This is an important jewel and never seen in this design. The camera reflects a bit of a gold tint but there is no gilt to this bracelet. It has been very well cared for as it is without any dents, repairs or damage. It is a pleasure to wear and to be seen.

Handmade sterling silver pin or brooch designed and signed circa 1930's by American and Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling. Pin measures 2 1/4" X 2". The eagle and serpent design is an integral part of the Mexican flag. The pin is in beautiful condition with no dents, dings or repairs. Excellent aged patina. Pinback and lock work perfectly. Signed on the reverse 980, WS, TAXCO. Featured on Goddard's excellent website spratlingsilver.com.

An unmistakable period piece is personified by this high Art Deco bar pin. The pin is enhanced by three oriental half seed pearls. The length of the pin is 2 ½” and the width is 1/8”. The safety catch is marked 14K.

William Spratling is legendary for his designs in silver and for quality in the production of those designs. Today we have an early phase 1 hallmark on his amethyst casa belles necklace. The weight is a hefty 102 grams and displays 18 links and 3 amethyst drops each at 1.5 inches long. It is a comfortable 17 inches in wearable length and it lays beautifully without tipping or rolling over on the neck...

A cascade of flora drapes from the neck of this gorgeous piece by Seifu Yohei IV. It is 31 cm (12 inches) tall and in perfect condition. Quite large for a work by Seifu, it is marked on the base with an incised signature.
Seifū Yohei IV (Seizan: 1872-1946) was born the second son of Seifū Yohei III (1851-1914). He studied literati-style painting under Tanomura Shōsai (1845-1909), a son of Tanomura Chokunyū, in Osaka for three years...

We are presenting a signed M. Velasquez moth necklace and matching bracelet. His work is magnificent and is highly sought after by collectors. One of his contemporaries who also made Mexico City stylized designs was Matilde Poulat. This set is extraordinary being almost pure silver that is soft to the touch. The thumbless spring is the correct clasp for this necklace as many of the early pieces used this closure. The condition is superb. The bracelet is 7in. long and the face front is 1.75in...

Dating around 1930, this Mexican Deco Fred Davis necklace in a design that rarely comes up, is an early example of "mixed metals" jewelry. Combining repousse silver with copper wire and then bringing in ripe, saturated color with the amethyst cabs, the necklace is an ode to vineyards and aromatic red wine. Though the brooch of the parure appears in the third edition of Morrill's "Mexican Silver" (p. 28), the necklace is hard to find and I am thrilled to be presenting it here...

This rare & beautiful sterling silver & amethyst bracelet & necklace were designed & signed in the 1930's by Frederick W. Davis (1880-1961). The necklace has a wearable length of 16 1/4" & is 1" wide. The bracelet is 7" long & 1" wide. Necklace weighs 160 grams. Bracelet weighs 73 grams. Both hallmarked on the reverse FD SILVER MEXICO.
