A magnificent and rare sterling and striped agate bracelet by Bent Knudsen,Denmark, circa 1950. Not much is known about Gerardo Lopez yet his jewelry bespeaks the man's talent, exceptional craftsmanship and the pride he must have taken in his creations. I wrote in my description of the 980 pectoral necklace that is also available in my inventory (please look for Troc item no 1188446) that I suspect he must have had some association with either the Los Castillo or Margot de Taxco talleres; maybe even with both...

Watch greenery turn gold with this stunning Tiffany pin: a beautiful flower captured in 18 Kt yellow gold, to be precise. Different textures in the petals and leaves create a multicolored effect as the light catches the gold in each part differently, though it is all the same rich yellow tone. The pin measures 2 ¼ inches in height and 1 3/8 inches across at the widest part of the flower, which is centered by an 11 x 9 millimeter oval cabochon turquoise...

I love early Mexico City pieces for their bold repousse further enhanced with deep oxidation and etching and the strong, primeval earthiness of their design. Crafted by mostly anonymous maestros in Mexico's capital in the opening decades of the 20th c., they pre-date their Taxco counterparts and seem to be on the rise among vintage Mexican silver lovers. This bracelet is a great example of the style - and I have recently seen a brooch in this design bearing Matilde Poulat's signature...

Hugest ever - literally! - FarFan earrings I have seen, can you believe this set? I am stunned by the proportions, the "elaborately" naive design and execution, the beautiful stones. Definitely a pair for the female who does not shy away from attention and .....

One of the few females of Taxco - at least, one of the few whose name we actually know - Erika Hult de Corral 's creations can be impressive, exhibiting genuine creativity and a certain sense of comfort within the realm of modernist design. I particularly like her "moonscape" pieces, partly because I first learned about her years ago when I happened upon such a necklace and earrings set by her. The piece presented here is a variation on the theme - a long pendant necklace with heavily "pitted" a...

Circa 1960 bib necklace and matching clip earrings with amazing prong set stones including cabochon green stones, faceted blue, green, and vitrail peacock blue/green stones. All stones are glass. The metal is a darkened coppery color. Hook close with extender chain. This looks very French in terms of the stones, the stone colors, the coppery metal color, and the construction. I have seen signed French pieces with the same type of back construction. The stones have fabulous depth of color...

Signed by Gerardo Lopez, an accomplished early Taxco maestro whose repousse jewelry is steadily growing in popularity, a big, showy sterling brooch featuring a splendidly ornate bird of paradise. I could hardly exaggerate the attention to detail and flawless finishing in Lopez's work - here the oxidation and the patina developed over time accentuate the sculpturality of the design. Measuring a generous 3 1/4" tall by 2 5/8" wide the brooch weighs 22.7 grams. It is signed "LOPEZ" and "STERLING ...
