Beautiful man's short jacket, hand painted on Asa(hemp). It is in excellent conditon, very rare to find this quality in this condition. This type of kimono is becoming very scarce every year.

 

The measurements for this obi (maru obi) is quite large, 12 3/4"w x 153" wide. Condition is very new with some basting stitches still intact.

This early Dior brooch was designed by Michel Maer for the House of Dior. It has a delicate and elegant look and measures 2 3/4" by 1 1/2".

Beyond saying Bakelite and unusual, how do I describe this bracelet. The thin bottom layer appears to have been painted in a "leopard" pattern while the top layer is red-like brown in a beautifully carved floral pattern. It is intricate and delicate looking. Bottom layer has some slight hint of red in some places.5/8" wide, 2 1/2" inside diameter.

This is a current Nishijin textile, a very pricey item in Japan. This is an authentic one, it is woven thick like an obi sash. I have two hangings listed here. This is the larger one. The details, especially the gold thread, did not show up in the pictures. The theme is the aristocrat's graceful life in court during Heian Era (794-1192AD). You see a princess figure wearing 12 layered kimonos...

This is an older (40 to 50 years) Japanese screen. The frame is black lacquered wood with a silk border. The dimensions are 36" high and 71" wide. There are some damages in the back which does not affect the front. There is a small hole by the stand in pic #6. You may not see it in the picture (it is small).

Mine is a newer kind (40 to 50 years old) like this gown and pretty gaudy in color (it used to be much brighter) but it just shows off well. So, this might be your piece! In the style of Paco Rabanne who introduced "metal clothing" in the late 1960's, this Italian halter is something you are not likely to see again. Light as a feather for ease of wearing, boldly chic, and great worn under, say, an open velvet jacket, or over a long halter-shaped dress. Purchased at Saks Fifth Avenue, New York City in 1967. Fits size eight, approximately.

 

This summer obi is made out of soft "Ro" silk with a gold tint. The silk on the front side is in mint condition (never been used) with an antique looking silk liner. Soft and high quality obi. It comes with basting stitches all around. The design on the silk is a picture of Karuta cards with beautiful calligraphy of old “waka

 

 

 

What is unusual about this Uchikake is that the fabric has a plastic coating. This is the only one that I have seen with this type of finish. This gown will survive nicely in the high traffic area or you can even hang it by the fireplace in your home. The color is orange. There are some areas that the plastic is missing (last picture). This is something that I did not see until I started to view these pictures (shown in last picture). Other than that, the condition is like new...

 

Rich sky blue and clear rhinestones in various sizes and shapes, this set demonstrates the elegant style that was Hattie Carnegie's. Rhodium plated, the choker is 12 3/4" with a 3 1/2" rhinestone extension chain.(note rhinestone tassels) Clip earrings are 1 3/4" long and 1" at widest.

Gold over brass with faux baroque pearls, this is a charming and unusual necklace. Choker length is 13 1/2' with a 1 1/2" extension chain. The bib is 11" at its longest.

The design is done with "Kaioke", the shell boxes. They were used in shell matching game, a popular game played in the Edo period (1603-1868). The design that you see here is not patchwork. The silk was dyed first leaving the areas protected, then the designs were painted on later. Some needlework was added later to enhence the design. Signed Kramer of NY, this stunning necklace and earrings are all prong set. The green stones are a vibrant emerald color, and the clear rhinestones sparkle like diamonds. Great for any special occasion. Necklace is 18 1/2" end to end with the seven strand tassel measuring 2 3/8" long. The clip earrings have five strands and are 2" long.

Vertical oban depicting a fox attacking a man and child by Utagawa Yoshiiku (1833-1904). A three-eyed ghost gazes menacingly at the scene from the upper right corner. The banner at the top, which is being held by a flying angel, reads "#445 from the Tokyo Daily News." The date of "8th month of Meiji 6" (1873) appears in the right portion of the calligraphic description of the scene taking place. Newspapers, which were introduced into Japan in 1870, became very popular in the Meiji Period...

 

The design of this kimono is done in Kyoto Yuzen dye (famous paste resist dyeing method) and Bokashi (gradual shading). It is a formal wear with 5 mon (family crest). Top half of the lining is done with a beautiful red silk and the bottom half is done with the same black silk from the front...

Coral glass beads with tiny clear glass spacers, this necklace is a lovely classic. Longest strand is 22", 1 1/2" across the thickest part of the three strands.

I can just see this pair slogging through the desert. Somewhat humorous, yet with a certain dignity that comes from the exotic. This brooch is beautiful in its three dimensional design and is silver plated. Plaque on the back says Thief of Bagdad (from the film) and Korda. There is a "3" on the left and a "6" on the right along with some other unclear markings. From spear end to hoof is 3" and from spear tip to tail is 2 1/2".

Flowers, leaves and bows from the 1930's. Luscious square red rhinestones surround pale pink aurora borealis rhinestones. these are accompanied by sterling and enamel. Brooch is 3 1/2" by 3". Hinged clip earrings are 1" in diameter.

These clip earrings adorn both the top and bottom of the ear. The wire goes in back of the ear with the top rhinestone cluster sitting just forward of where the top of the ear joins the head. Sounds complicated but its really simple, adjustable, and comfortable. Beautiful rich color in the saphire rhinestones. Bottom cluster 2 1/8" long and 1" at widest, top cluster 1 1/8" long and 3/4" at widest.

Sterling vermeil jelly belly sailfish with red glass eye and small clear rhinestones.Exquisite! His age is undetermined.He bears the oval Hobe plaque,but it seems unlikely that Hobe was the maker since Hobe never made jelly bellies.The brooch is of superb quality even if its parenthood is questionable. 3" by 2 3/4".

Carved and painted with a 3/8" wall, a 3/8" height, this Bakelite bracelet is great worn singly or in a group. 2 1/2" inside dimension. Flip side of the bracelet has the same design as that shown.

Truly elegant, this gold plated brooch is a treasure. Jewelry designed by Joseph Wiesner is hard to find and much sought after! The combination of colors in the prong-set rhinestones is unusual. The floral design of the clear rhinestones adds a delicate quality. 2 1/2" at widest, 2 1/4" long.

Striking. This chunky, ropey, tassely set makes its presence known. The necklace, from its fixed slide to full extension, measures 15". Early 1900's charm and elegance are expressed in this lovely set. Shimmering pink crystals are highlighted by tiny clear rhinestones, and the effect is dazzling. These blue eyed fast flyers can fly tgether as a brooch or can be separated and worn as two clips. They are gold plated, marked Coro Duette and also Coro with the pegasus mark. Pat. No. 1798867 is stamped on the frame. Overall measurements are 2 1/8" wide, 2 1'4" high.

This huge, dramatic hinged bracelet is gold plated over brass. It is oval in shape, slightly domed in appearance, and has an overall floral pattern that gives the appearance of hand carving. 2" wide with a 2 1/8" by 2 1/2" inside dimensions. It proudly wears the oval Haskell plaque.
