This tokkuri is another splendid creation of Suzuki Tomio, a potter who is always rethinking his work and multiplying the ways pottery can be declined. The contrast of the soft glaze on the charcoal black body is simply fantastic and forms an alien looking keshiki (landscape). Used as a sake pouring vessel, a vase, or just as a decoration, this tokkuri will crave for attention. Suzuki Tomio is, in my opinion, one of the best Shino potters in Japan...

A very sweet 6” Chinese saucer dish of the late 19th century, beautiful light celadon with richly painted butterflies and florals. There is some enamel loss on the butterflies. An apocryphal Qianlong mark is clearly marked on the underside. A very nice and authentic late Qing porcelain to grace any collection. It measures 6 inches in diameter and 1 inch deep.

Large Chinese famille rose porcelain jardiniere with wide mouth and flattened rim enameled in bright pigments with a figural scene extending around the circumference. Diaper pattern band below rim. Unglazed foot and base. Original drain hole and plug. Late Qing dynasty (19th century) to possibly early Republican period. 13"H x 15 1/4" diameter. Weighs about 15 lbs. Very good overall condition with no chips or cracks. Some soiling to the interior from use.
