One of the few female designers and silversmiths who contributed to Mexico's 20th c. Silver Renaissance that we know about, Carmen Beckmann is reported in the literature to have worked primarily in the 1950s and 1960s in San Miguel de Allende. I am not sure if this is indeed the case, at least in terms of the dates when she was active and I only say this because many of the pieces by her that I have seen bore hallmarks that would indicate a pre-1948 date of crafting...

This is a lovely Victorian shell cameo brooch, profile of a Greco-Roman woman set in gold rope twist mounting, tube clasp, measures 2 " x 1", weight 21.3g, very good condition with stress crack on upper right of back side.

This pair of heart shaped blue topaz and diamond earrings has a tailored look. The 6 X 6 millimeter heart shaped blue topaz is set on top, and five diamonds hug the bottom of the center stone. Description: An ancient green jade bracelet was excavated in very good condition. By a yellowish green tint, the bracelet was arch-shaped on the outer surface when the inner rim was flat. Manoeuvred obviously by artificial procedure, the bracelet was not in a strictly shaped round circle on the outer rim but left with unevenly shaped angles on the surface. In provincial jade quality, the jade stone was yet in greasy and warm feel when light incursions were kept within the patina...

This is a fine reddish brown piece of bronze censer. It is of bombe shaped standing on three short feet resting on a curved lotus stand. On the underside of the bronzer censer, it bears the Ming dynasty Xuande reign mark but from the Qing dynasty, circa. 18th century. The stand is included with the censer.

Small Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Ox / Bull

This small and attractive pottery model of an ox, or bull, was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is quite "heavily-potted" and made from a reddish pottery. It has been "cold painted" in a base coat of white pigment on top of which have been applied reddish-brown and red pigments. On the surface in places are white "calcified" deposits from its long burial. Length 14.5 cm, height 13 cm...

Chinese late Qing dynasty bombe form porcelain censer with two lion dog mask handles at the sides. The censer is covered on the exterior in an oxblood flambé (sang-de-boeuf) glaze applied over a cream colored glaze which is visible where the glaze thins. The oxblood glaze flows over the interior edge onto a crackled gray interior glaze. The base is unglazed and burnt orange. The characteristically rough foot rim is unglazed. There is an original production flaw by one of the mask handles...

A whimsical Yixing pottery figural group depicting a mature and a young rat in hollowed, half log with a cache of three peanuts. Marked with two impressed seals. Out of our comfort zone with this category (perhaps another's gain) and assuming it likely is a later 20th century item. About 4 1/2" (11.43cm) high, 6" (15.24cm) long, and about 3" (7.62) wide at the base. Condition is excellent.
