Terrific Blue French Enamelware Saltbox!
This beautiful French Enamelware salt box. circa 1930’s, is in great condition for its age. Measuring approximately 5 inches high (to top of wooden lid) & 9-1/2 inches high in the back, it has a wonderful pale blue speckled pattern. It has a couple of minor dings along the bottom ridge (see photos), but nothing at all to detract from the charm of this splendid piece.

Footed Toothpick holder in a checkered murrine pattern of a red and yellow centered flower on lattimo alternating with transparent rose-colored trefoils on a cobalt ground. Holder stands 3 inches (7.6 cm) tall and is 2 1/4 inches (5.7 cm) in diameter. Examples of this pattern can be found in the book on Fratelli Toso by Leslie Pena on pages 86 and 87. No chips, cracks or repairs. Circa 1960.

Rare sterling silver spectacles in a green shagreen eye glasses case with silver mounts. Circa 1790-1800. The silver eyeglasses are unmarked, but are probably English, with folding frames. The shagreen (shark skin) case is in excellent condition with unmarked silver mounts and a working push-button catch. Size: 5 1/4" ht. x 2" width x 5/8" depth. Shagreen was made from the skin of the dogfish, a variety of shark, and was filed smooth and then applied like leather over a wooden case...

This is a classical pair of sterling candlesticks, ca. 1930, with the mark of Redlich & Co., a New York silversmith in business from 1890 to 1946, the company later became part of Elgin. Also marked "cementfilled," "reinforced with rod" and "2071." Condition: one stick has some minor dents at the top of the base. Measurement: 8." h

Of exceptionally large size, this tin glazed tankard is German, likely Nuremberg from the mark on the base, and is mounted in pewter, also marked on the interior of the lid. Measuring 11" high, it is very well painted with foliate designs surrounding a medallion or crest depicting a scene of buildings. Over a slip of grayish white, the decoration is done in varying shades of blue, green, yellow, and orange, with magenta or black outlines...

This is a rare pair of sterling silver candlesticks made by the esteemed Mauser silver manufacturing company of New York, New York between 1887 and 1903. The candlesticks are 8" tall and the base measures 4 1/2" in diameter. The stem is weighted, and the bottom is fully hallmarked. One of the candlesticks was expertly repaired at the bottom of the stem just above the base. There is an Old English letter engraved on top of the base, your guess is as good as mine as to what letter it could be...

This is a Russian enamel "Cup of Sorrow" dated 1896 having the Imperial crest of the double headed eagle commemorating the Coronation of Czar Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra Fedorovna and ultimately resulting in his overthrow. This cup is in overall good condition but does have some rust spots along the rim and base. It is approximately 4 1/8 in. H

A Victoria Austria R.S. Prussia ornate lustre teapot. This antique Edwardian bone china porcelain teapot with a floral and lustre finish c1910 stands 6-3/4" high to the top of the fancy finial and it measures 7-5/8" from the spout to the edge of the handle. It was made (and stamped by) Victoria Austria who bought blanks for factory decoration - in this case a genuine R.S. Prussia blank...

Of cold painted bronze, this sculpture was created by Franz Xavier Bergman (1861-1936) in the Vienna foundry that was opened by his father in 1860. The figure depicts a Chinese Golden Pheasant, and is one of numerous bronzes of birds by Bergman. This bronze is large, measuring 18 1/2" x 8 7/8", and is signed on the tail with the Bergman monogram of a B withing an urn, with "Gesch.5714" above...

A massive Japanese 19thC bronze jardiniere or plant holder with raised or bas-relief detail. This handsome antique signed Japanese bronze work stands 13-1/2" tall and it measures 11-1/2" across the opening. This is a large example of a classic bowl design, and it has a nice patination (appears somewhat lightened in our photographs to show detail). It features perching and flying birds and floral branches, a decorated collar with bat designs (a sign of luck and prosperity) and incised decoration...

A Victorian walking stick with an exotic wood shaft fitted with a carved ivory handle modeled in the form of a fist clenching a ball. A fine touch of added quality is the carved snake bracelet with inlaid eyes which wraps around the hand, typical of jewelry worn in the Victorian age. An extra band of ivory is added as the collar and there is an ivory tip. The fineness of the carving is apparent in the detailed depiction of the fingernails. Excellent condition. Size: 33 inches length...

Sold. Very Desirable Sterling Silver Letter Opener made by the Watson Company of nearby Attleboro Massachusetts with c 1910 hallmarks. Just think, at this time only about 1/3 of college students were women and only approx 5% were physicians! What New England college bound young lady of that era received this as a gift? Weighs 1/2 ounce on a postal scale. 5 1/2" X 7/16" wide. Very nice condition for age.
