Horacio de la Parra is one of the early Taxco maestros whose work I am constantly on the look out for - I think the bracelet presented here amply illustrates the reasons for that. Though not as prolific as others in jewelry making (Parra is known for his high quality holloware), Parra's repoussage can be down right stupendous. In our case, the complexity of the design and the challenge it poses to the artistry of the silversmith executing it, make his feat even more incredible...

This is the very rare and famous "Amoeba" bracelet designed in 1948 by Henning Koppel for Georg Jensen, Denmark. It measures 7 1/2" end to end and is 1 3/4" wide. A truly monumental Los Castillo bracelet combining sublime relief and beadwork in wide scroll and leaves links held together with silver rings on the back. This specific design doesn't come up very often and both its inventory number and taller's signature in straight line capital letters indicate that it belongs in the earlier Los Castillo period, the 1940-1945 years when Margot was also designing for them. Early Matilde Poulat bracelet in the jeweled style inextricably associated with her, this is a true collector's item from Matl's first creative period. Very much in the early style of Fred Davis, a vintage Deco Taxco necklace wrought in almost pure, 980 silver. This is a classy, substantial piece with its shield form links made out of silver sheet with good thickness and adorned with applied repousse semi-spheres, etching and bezel set amethyst cabochons. A true Mexican beauty, 16 1/4" long (wearable; easily lengthened with the addition of a sterling extension which I can provide upon request) by 1" wide, weighing a good 95.6 grams...

I am happy to present here a rather difficult to find early Taxco bracelet - I have come upon this specific design in its necklace form a couple of times but have only seen the bracelet once before. Hand-wrought in well-pronounced repousse it consists of a double row of tulips facing away from each other. I am particularly attracted to the patina it has acquired over time - 980 alloys "age" really gracefully - and the piece's generous width...

Entirely hand-wrought in a style that brings to mind early Matilde Poulat pieces this is a monumental, early Mexican Deco bracelet. Comprised of four curved links, it resembles a hinged bangle more than a link bracelet because it holds its shape firmly when you have it on - just like a bangle would. There is no way I could ever exaggerate the depth and complexity of its repousse - this is astonishing work, immaculately executed, having a patina that lends more drama and depth to it...

Out of Mexico's "archaeological" design trend, an early Deco bracelet that combines beautifully aged silver with deeply colored amethyst cabochons. The overlaid motif, meticulously hand-cut, chased and etched, has been perfectly applied on the curved link and represents a scene of Mexico's pre-Colombian rituals. Hundreds and hundreds of tiny sparking rhinestones compose this unsigned 1940's brooch. The crystal center stone is a rich blue and is faceted in an unusual way that gives it maximum glitter. Wearing this brooch means letting it take center stage without any other jewelry for competition! Brooch is 4 1/4" in diameter and has a smooth silver-colored metal back.
