A rarely coming up bracelet by Taxco's foremost modernist maestro, this Antonio Pineda treasure is wrought in silver and adorned with obsidian bars and pearls. The design can be seen in Stromberg's catalogue for Pineda's exhibition at UCLA's Fowler Museum but in necklace form and it is a pleasure to wear! Caged in bullet-shaped links the obsidian bars peer through the cut-outs, their dark power contrasting with the delicate whiteness of the pearls...

This flower basket brooch by Vrba is spectacular, huge and very three dimensional. Verba, who formerly designed for Miriam Haskell, has outdone himself on this one! Composed of glass beads and shimmering amathyst rhinestones placed in a dark metal setting, this brooch is a show stopper when worn. And, it is a treasure for the collector. Mexico City artist Frederick Davis (1880-1961)designed this distinctive silver brooch in the 1920's. In beautiful vintage condition the pin is 2 1/4" X 2 1/4". As rare-as-can-be not just for its signature but also for the black opal baguettes it showcases, this vintage Mexican silver architectural ring was created by Carmen Beckmann. Beckmann is reported in the literature to have worked primarily in the 1950s and 1960s in San Miguel de Allende and her jewelry can vary from inspired to simply good. Festive Haskell! With bright red translucent glass beads that shimmer in the light, this delicate Miriam Haskell set is a perfect special occasion piece. The individual rhinestones are all prong set and the gold plate enhances the stones and beads. Note the interesting shape of the red beads. The necklace is 19" end to end. A wonderful sculptural sterling cuff bracelet by Angela Cummings. Cummings designed for Tiffany & Co. for years then opened a studio of her own. She announced the closing of her studio in August of this year so her pieces will surely be increasing in value and become highly collectible. A 10k opal and diamonds ring from the 1960s. This size 6 ring features a central claw-set 3/16 x 1/8" natural opal flanked with six ~1.5 point diamonds. The setting measures 7/16 x 3/16" and this ring weighs 0.9 grams. The opal has brilliant and intense green flash with underlying orange fire and this ring is stamped 10K DA C. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs...

Older Haskell with unusual tassel and chain attachment. The necklace has lovely, large Baroque pearls and two differing chains. The separate delicate chain with tassels can be wrapped around the front part of the necklace in a variety of configurations, or it can be used separately with another piece of jewelry. The oval Miriam Haskell mark is on the flower clasp. Necklace 22 1/2" end to end, the chain and tassels 8" end to end.

A rare pair of inlaid Knifewing design cuff links by Zuni silversmith John Gordon Leak. The inlaid Knifewing figure is set in a background of black jet. These measure 1" by 1", weigh 20.3 grams and are in fine original condition. John Gordon Leak's work was prominently featured in the C. G. Wallace collection auctioned by Sotheby's in 1975. Here is a great opportunity to own a fine example of his work.

In my opinion the best Mexican modernist designer, Salvador Teran was a maestro of many talents and created some of the most striking pieces of Taxco jewelry. Gorgeous Ella Cone sterling silver and lapis lazuli necklace, this is a piece that retains American Arts and Crafts influences and has the quality and design originality that characterize Cone's best pieces. I love the richness of the dark blue in the stones in juxtaposition to the warm glow of well-aged, well-loved silver.
