Lewis exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (1854-69) and was elected an associate of the Academy in 1859. Ship's portrait of the "Eagle Hull" (named on the stern and on a pennant.) Port side view and Stern view. Recently out of an estate where it had hung since the 60's. Likely a British ship and fitted with gun ports, a hasty search shows the red ensign was also used by Britain's colonies (or "subjects"). An informed maritime scholar can no doubt place things more precisely given the other flag with apparently Swedish colors...

This is an early polychrome wooden statue of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, Patron Saint of Youth, probably Spanish, late 18th to early 19th Century, wood carving with layer of gesso on a plinth base, St Aloysius is standing clothed in Jesuit garb, very nice detail of facial features and clothing, statue is in fair to good condition, in need of restoration, has chips in several places, fingers broken in proper left hand, measures 35 in H.

Measuring just under 8" high, and 12" including the wood stand, this Santo head is exceptionally well carved, with fine detail and life like features to the face. The eyes are cast upward, and the pupils are carved in a concave manner. Most of the face and beard retain the original gesso and paint, with more loss to the back of the head, and most of the paint in the eyes is gone. Fine quality and nice detail, it is probably Continental in origin.

A fine pair of antique portrait miniatures of a man and woman signed Dubbison and dated 1823 oil on Ivory in leather cases. In very good antique condition the lady has a restored hairline crack to her left. measuring approx. 3 x 4 inches. a beautiful pair.
