Beautifully sculpted from one piece of wood, this horse and rider sail effortlessly over a fence. The sculpture measures 16" high, approximately 19" from end of board to tip of horses nose, and the wood base is 13 1/4" x 4 1/4". The two back legs are one piece, just to support the body of the horse and rider. Likely a British ship and fitted with gun ports, a hasty search shows the red ensign was also used by Britain's colonies (or "subjects"). An informed maritime scholar can no doubt place things more precisely given the other flag with apparently Swedish colors.
