This is a handsome 19th century Cromwellian-style armchair with wonderful leather embossment and hand carved figural arm supports, the rectangular green leather padded back with embossed country theme of floral and fauna, a similar embossed padded seat with a center griffin, one of the barley twist arm supports having a carved bearded male bust, the other with a female bust, the legs are joined by barley-twist turned stretchers, all original, this chair has excellent color and patina...

This is a rare find! We just had to restore this amazing set of four matching Gendarme Club Chairs. Originally circa 1940's, these beauties deserved a second life. Recovered with our signature winter sheepskin, they offer a deep, full, comfortable seat. Hook a leg over one of these and you will fall in love. A masterpiece of Georgian furniture this beautifully crafted table utilizes the best of form and proportion with exquisite hand carving.
