Victorian cobalt glass oil lamp with etched chimney and enamel from the 1890s. This tall table lamp has a 10-1/2" deep cobalt blue base with an open cut pontil, an original Plume & Atwood Mfg. Co. 2-3/4" brass burner and collar and an etched glass 9-1/4" large glass chimney. The burner has a second 1897 renewed patent date and the burner and flat wick show no signs of use at all (no wick char or burner darkening) and there is no smell of lamp oil or kerosene...

A delicate embellished with eight couched gold five -clawed dragons, four front-facing and four reaching upwards towards a flaming pearl of wisdom, the Eight Buddhist Symbols, bajixiang, woven on each side amid scattered cloud scrolls, all above bats, flowers, and precious objects emerging from foaming waves crashing against high rocks, the interior flaps with small dragon.

The rich blue Kesi ground embroidered in counted stitch using gilt wrapped threads for the dragons while the surrounding clouds and eight Buddhist treasure auspicious emblems display white and gold threads and cuff embroidered en suite on black ground.
