A Moche II shell bottle from Peru, ca. 100 - 200 AD. This beautifully formed and incised shell is 5" high, painted in cream over the orange clay. The delicate spout is painted with tan pigment and is nicely burnished. Bivalves, such as this scallop shell, are rare in Moche art and may have had male-female symbolism, which would have added to the fertility connotations of their association with water. Intact, with only minor losses of the cream pigment. A lovely example.
A very rare Jianyang temmoko bowl was in unique firing effects.

This small oil lamp has a floral motif cloisonne base and glass globe. An artifact of the Qing dynasty, this style lamp was often referred to as an opium lamp, presummably because of their use in the opium dens of that period.
At 3.5 inches high, it is in good condition with no dents and no losses.
Description: A bronze paper weight was joyfully in a subject that most welcomed by Chinese people. "Si Xi" Four Joys- Fu (wellbeing), Lu (prosperity), So (longevity), Si (joys) were symbolized by four laughing boys. Intriguingly designed by traditional craftsman, only two boys instead of four were in the combination. A kind of delusion would add some fun for the literati in their boring study room. Actually the puzzler can be a fine stationery which was in the practical use...
A fine b/w bowl with well balance potted, decorated at the exterior with three Phoenix on flight among continuously chrysanthemum scrolls, interior center with a 'Vajra' design within double circle. Ming dynasty 15th century Interregnum period ware. Condition is very good, with no any chips, no cracks and free from restoration, just found minor crackle glaze to the body and base. Diameter approx 13.5 cm.
Original Japanese woodblock print by Yamamoto Shoun (1870-1965), titled "Moon of the Mosquito Net", 1907, from the Modern Beauties Series, published by Matsuki Heikichi. This print has very fresh colors, with black lacquer highlights in her hair. The only condition problem to note is pink transfer stains on arm. It measures approximately 10 7/8 x 7 3/4 inches, plus margins.

Beautiful purse embroidered on both sides in counted stitch with bats in gold thread among blue clouds. Yellow colored drawstring,tassels and silk lining. Condition: fine. Little patina, yellow silk faded, the blue silk lining with stained area, one end of drawstring is loose. Dimension: 10.8 cm x 6.3 cm x 2 cm, weight: 42 g.
A 16th to 17th century (Momoyama to early Edo period) candle-stick of vine or root set onto a hollow carved base and covered in black and red lacquer with a metal stud and drip pan. It is 11 inches (28 cm) tall and in overall fine condition, with wear typical of centuries of use.

A lacquered Buddha figure holding a bowl seated on a high lotus pedestal. This meditating Buddha has a very gentle and calming face. The open area in the back is missing its former relics.

An excellent Mayan Tiquisate type molded figure from Esquintla, Guatemala, 7-3/4" tall, ca. 600 - 800 AD. This is the Old Fire God, an important deity in Mayan mythology. As always, he is presented with the wrinkled face and is adorned with large ear spools, a necklace and headdress. The old chip to the base does not detract.
