A very rare and large rootwood scholar's rock. China, 19th century. H. 37,5 cm (excluding stand. Condition: Beautiful wear and patina, there is a crack in the upper hanging branch (see pictures) but it has not been broken or restored. This piece comes with a beautiful antique hongmu (redwood) table. Provenance: Dutch private collection.
A genuine reishi cluster of mushrooms dried and preserved in perfect condition. This is an exquisite form, the dark trunks meandering up to wide blossoming heads. It is 13 inches (33 cm) long.
Large Chinese late Qing Guangxu period cylindrical form censer decorated in underglaze blue against a white porcelain ground with a faint blue-green tint with a pair of four-clawed dragons chasing a flaming pearl above waves. The interior is glazed while the base is unglazed. 7 1/2" high x 8" diameter. Late 19th to early 20th century. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is a small amount of staining to the interior.
Circular wooden box with fitted interior. The cover inlaid in mother-of-pearl with ducks swimming in a lotus pond and auspicious symbols. The exterior walls with flowers and Chinese characters. Condition: separating age cracks, few inlays lost, cover with an old rim loss, interior warped. Dimension: diameter 24.3 cm, 11.2 cm high.

A rare carved jade of an old man with a beard. Half of the jade on top is translucent and the bottom bottom half opaque.
It is from the Hunan culture which was absorbed by the Han as their control spread over the whole of China.

A heavy hand forged iron candle-stand from a Buddhist temple in the shape of a burning jewel. It is 90 cm tall, 57 wide, base and legs 20 x 39 cm and dates from the 19th century. Very thick and heavy iron work.

Of large size, this Huanghuali root or burl Scholars object features an interior bowl shaped area, which is most likely a brush washer. It measures 14" in length, 8 3/4" wide, and is 5" high, and has a darkened and soft patina. The grain of the wood is visible in many areas, with both pronounced striations and larger areas of dark coloration. The wood grain is very dense, heavy, and it has the slightly sweet odor found in Huanghuali wood...
Woodblock print of Nikko Kegon-no-taki (Kegon falls in Nikko) by Kawase Hasui from the series ukiyo-e monyo shu (Collection of ukiyo-e designs). The water depicted in the falls is textured. signed Hasui, sealed Kawase, publisher's mark Bijutsusha ("Rumi") and titled in the right margin. Oversized limited-edition Japanese sosaku hanga woodblock print by Okiie Hashimoto (1899-1993) titled "Garden in Autumn." The bottom margin is signed, titled in kanji, dated 1961, and numbered 10/60. A pair of unique three part tokkuri by Taniguchi Chojiro consisting of a top, which turned upside down forms the cup, a central ring on which the cup rests, and the bottle, which, when assembled, make the form of a temple bell. These are made after the infamous bell of Hokoji Temple which provided (a rather lame) excuse for Tokugawa Ieyasu to crush the Toyotomi family and claim the country for his own, therefore beginning the Tokugawa Dynasty which ruled Japan for over 250 years...
A rare pair Korean badges for a civil official, dating to the Choson period. Embroidered in multicolored silks on blue figured silk with two cranes flying with a stalk of sacred fungus amidst clouds, above a taihu rock and waves. Bordered with gold wrapped thread. Glued on cardboard and mounted in antique wooden European frames. Condition: fine, slightly faded and few loose threads. Dimension: 24.8 cm x 23.1 (with frame), badges: approx. 22.5 cm x 21 cm.

Rare limited-edition abstract Japanese sosaku hanga woodblock print by Jun'ichiro Sekino (1914-1988) believed to be dated circa late 1950s. The bottom margin is pencil-signed and numbered 2/50. A white ink Jun Sekino signature is at the lower right. Paper: 12 1/8"V x 24 7/8"H (image: 9 3/8"V x 22 1/8"H). There is a mat burn line and some soiling evident in the margins. There are remnants of brown tape at the top verso. An original price tag is on the back...
A very rare wood panel, covered with a white ground and decorated with a painting of a bodhisattva. This panel was found in a cave temple in the Dunhuang mountains in the Gansu Province. We acquired a group of six panels from a Dutch collector who bought the panels in China in the 1980's. Dimensions: 50x25 cm.
