A rare Jizhou ware tea bowl, decorated to the exterior with tortoiseshell glaze, and with paper cut decoration of twin phoenix among a flower medallion in the center and butterflies reversed in dark brown against a veriegated buff ground on the interior. Song dynasty 12th-13th century from the kiln of Yonghe, Ji'an, Jiangxi province. Condition is perfect without any chip, no crack and free from restoration except glaze degradation. Diameter: 11.5cm and High: 5.1cm.

Description:

A stylized Ruyi was rarely found by cast bronze quality.
In unique and beautiful plum flowers and branches form, the bronze Ruyi was put firmly on a stand as a treasured item or on a desk as a nice brush-rest.
It was in quite good size which was rarely found too.
The darken patina was yielded due to age when the overall condition is perfect.

Sino-Japanese War triptych of a naval battle scene at Wei-hai-wei featuring an embattled Chinese ship at the center surrounded by the Japanese fleet. Several final blasts sink the ship and send the Chinese soldiers into the ocean. A fine Chinese hardwood stand. The top of irregular form (likely originally intended to hold a very specific object - perhaps a scholar's stone) upon a receded waist on rounded, foliate skirt and six similarly shaped cabriole legs terminating gracefully with scrolled leaf feet and resting on an undulating stretcher all raised on shaped feet. The top being hand planed, subtle rippling is noticed when inspected closely. The underside sealed with an old coat of black lacquer. At least 19th century...

A finely brushed image of a pheasant in the blossoming boughs of a cherry tree bearing a circular Rimpa School seal in the lower right. Pigment on paper with bokashi daubing of water on the tree trunk. Shadows dragged through the back appear to intimate bamboo. It is bordered in beige silk with a black lacquered wooden frame. The screen measures 71.5 x 68.5 inches (181 x 174 cm) and is in fine condition, dating from the early 20th century.
