Large Japanese limited edition lithograph with hand-applied paint and red sumi-e brush stroke by Toko Shinoda (b. 1913) titled “Through the Ages.” This early undated image is pencil-signed, titled, and numbered 32/35 at the lower left. Kokeshi, wooden folk toy of NE Japan. Height: 13.5". This example is of "Tougatta-kei" tradition, generally made in Miyagi Prefecture. But, this particular artisan, Ouhara Masakichi, lived in the city of Noboribetsu in Hokkaido. Ouhara-san was born in 1907 and passed away on June 8th, 1982 (Showa 57.) The images span from Mount fuji to the Daruma to Zen Circles, each annotated with some verse or Buddhist anecdote. It is in excellent condition, the album (closed) measuring 8-1/4 x 12 inches (21 x 30 cm).
