Here is a very elegant shuhai, made by one of the best contemporary Shino potters: Suzuki Tomio. A shuhai is a cup used to drink alcohol, usually sake, but the size of this particular piece makes it a perfect beer drinking vessel, or any other beverage, for that matter. The cup was made in the Yohenkin style of Shino pottery, a genre created by Suzuki Tomio. Yohenkin potteries have a spectacular soft golden caramel glaze and rich nacreous effects; a drinking companion to be treasured...

A tasteful work by the youthful star Tsujimura Yui showing a talent far beyond his years enclosed in their original signed wooden boxes titled simply Ido Chawan.  The pale glaze crawls across the surface, creating a sense of drama over this very austere form.  The rim dips and curves, a playful accent to the otherwise sedate work, made to suit the stately confines of the tea room.

A very unusual architectural shape by Takauchi Shugo covered in winnowing blue salt glaze enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Shio-yu Mentori Tsubo. This artist does have a surprisingly wide range, and this piece certainly proves that. Adept at Shino, Oribe, Mashiko styles and others, he is a tough one to nail down and even more difficult to acquire, his pieces proving very popular at exhibition. This is a rare opportunity to acquire one of his masterpieces...

Mint Oni-Hagi masterpiece chawan with notched foot by star potter Seigan Yamane. This extraordinary tea bowl is covered by wonderful different shades of green and purple glaze on brown pottery. In my opinion it is the one of the most aesthetic chawans that he made. The seal of the artist is stamped on the bottom. We have a similar chawan with orange-red glaze - same price.

Seigan Yamane was born in 1952, and started making Hagi ware in 1987. And then, he started his own pottery in 1...
