This really pretty painted face doll has a unique palate off white, gray and black with big brown eyes. She has painted black hair. She has the center seam face that I like so much and ears. I love dolls with ears I think it gives them so much character. She has a nicely shaped body, she is firmly cotton stuffed. Her arms have lost the hands but she is jointed at the shoulder and her elbow so it is just the hands that are missing...
This doll had the nicest look of a serene country woman. She has a long graceful neck, a slim but curvy hips and small waist. She is all original even though there is a old cloth wrap around her neck probably to stabilize her neck and it work really well. She has jointed shoulders, hips and knees. Her feet are long and nicely shaped and her ankles are thin and very nice. Her hands never did anymore than be rounded off but now one has come undone and the other is a little frayed...
This is a very dear doll in her very best dress and put together hat. Her body is all original and bends and sits well. Her blue print dress is a lovely fit and she is wearing lace trimmed pantaloons and petticoat. Her shoes are homemade and interesting. That means I don't really understand them but they are sewn on and she likes them. Her face has holes and mends as well as shell and bead eyes and a faint nose and embroidered mouth. A thin black yarn works well for her hair...
A very interesting folk art doll with a big lollipop head, with a whimsical look on her sepia ink face. She has long neck, small solid body, short rounded off arms and turned feet. She is wearing a blue calico dress, with a nice undergarments. She is cotton stuffed. Her head leans back and forth a little but is not floppy, a surprise seeing it is so big. Her arms and legs are jointed. Her body is all original although the bottom half might be recovered or just how she was made...
A very interesting Beecher type black cloth doll with flirty eyes. Before you get really excited about a rare Beecher doll, I think that someone did this later on. Usually there is a piece of shell or white cardboard on either side of the shoe button eye and this is embroidered with white floss on the right sides of her eyes. It could be original but I kind of think not. Anyway, the eyes are old, not newly done by the looks of them and it is very enticing. It makes her very cute...
This wonderful topsy turvey is in almost original condition. I don't think she was played with or handled that much but is definitely old and right. Both faces are done by the same hand. The are very nicely done in a very direct manner by an unskilled hand that really was good. The white doll has a bonnet and a blouse and a soft pink cotton skirt. The black doll has on a blouse and a red checked skirt. The two heads are 14" from head to head and the skirts are just a 1/2" longer...
This wonderful black cloth doll woman stands 24" tall, has layers of antique clothes that I feel could really be original. She is made with black cotton and her face is black sateen that is embroidered with tiny stitches. She is stuffed with cotton but not firmly so she has a soft comfy feel especially with all the layers of clothing. The softness suits her. She is 24" tall and is circa 1880-90. She is just lovely.

I can't believe it, this is Miss Grant my first grade teacher. It has been a lot of years but I think this is her. She has great black fabric hair that feels sort of like mohair? The lovely head is in condition as is ... to accept a hairline problem and missing of the real fur eye brows. But this is possible to repair because you can clean and bleach the hairlines at her cheeks and back of the head . The missing fur eye brows it would also not a problem to replace !!

This is a great cloth doll with watercolor/ink painted face done with a lot of detail including the line drawn hair that I am very fond of. She is all hand sewn, rag stuffed and is heavy for her size. Her clothes are nice but not original to her. She is 21" tall, sits nicely and has the best blue eyes and pink cheeks. She has on a tan and light brown calico dress with a blue check apron over it, both are hand sewn. She was made circa 1890.
Boy dolls are just hard to find, fewer were made but when found they are more likely to have good clothes. Boys liked policeman, soldiers, construction workers and sailors. This great sailor is 21" tall, has a nicely embroidered face, is all hand sewn, has the four seam head and has really nice hands with fingers and thumbs. He is very firmly stuffed with cotton.
