It is always exciting when I stumble upon a Mexican chain necklace made of polished, tumbled hard-stones caged in sterling silver. This English jewel reflects the aesthetics of fin de siècle France and Russia, with its pink topazes and demantoid garnets. A wonderfully crafted hand wrought sterling silver pendant and chain with a central bezel set coral colored swirled agate by NYC lapidarist and jeweler, Felice Raabe Isreeli, (1915-2001).

This detailed and beautiful festoon or garland necklace features a winged heart, which is symbolic of love and openness. The heart is enameled in green with orange highlights, and the heart and the wings are set with seed pearls. Above are curlicues of gold, and below is a (tested) diamond dropper. It’s got a faint 10k mark on the back, but tests as 14k (this is not unusual). The spring ring is marked Gold Filled, but the chain tests for 14k, so it’s probably a replacement...

A sophisticated 18K gold necklace, the baton links enhanced with black and white en plein enamel. The batons are separated by seed pearls that reappear as a band across the middle of the teardrop-shaped onyx pendant. The pendant hangs from the clasp, so the necklace can be worn alone or with the pendant. Both the clasp and the mounting of the pendant are stamped with French 18K hallmarks and an unidentified maker’s mark.

A fine Victorian 14K gold and platinum locket ornately decorated in the Etruscan style with a lily pond scene. The scene includes rose gold cattails, green gold lily pads, and platinum lily blossoms. A very pretty pierced wedding band depicting rose gold Tudor roses alternating with yellow gold clusters of cherries. Each rose is centered with a synthetic ruby. This elegant pin/pendant consists of an oval of onyx in a sterling frame. The bale tests as 14kt, the pin stem tests as 10k yellow gold In the center are inlaid gold stars, and along the periphery are inlaid flowers, most likely platinum. The frame is decorated with a silver twist, and a floral motif. It measures 1-15/16 x 1-5/8 inches, and weighs 25.9g. Circa 1880. There is some loss to a couple of the flowers, but it’s still a striking piece.

Ca 1920 A stunning platinum and pearl ring with millegrain setting. There are twelve diamonds with a total carat weight of approximately 1.25 (ctw). The cream-colored cultured pearl measures 9mm. There is also a small amount of glue residue at the base of the pearl and very light wear on the nacre. Tests 950 platinum. Size 4.5 ~ Weight: 4 grams.

This intriguing (and slightly strange!) pair of pins is from the Art Nouveau era. They feature a woman’s face flanked by flowers, and her hair is greenish – just a little scary! A Charming and rare pair of vintage Sterling Silver stylized Bird Earrings by the famous Taxco jewelry artist Hector Aguilar. They measure 1 1/3" wide by 3/4" tall and weigh 10.1 grams total. The screw backs are in good working order and the silver has developed an aged patina that highlights the bird's detail. Hallmarked with the HA mono in the center of "Made in Mexico Sterling". A very special pair of earrings with a great look.

This pretty ring consists of a flower made of six pearl “petals” (one of which is a replacement), centered by a tiny rose cut diamond. There is a compartment underneath, perhaps for storing a lock of hair, but no glass. The ring tests as a very strong 14kt, so it is probably 15kt (and therefore English). This elegant stickpin features a stylized flower design, based on a Japanese family crest. It is marked “k20” on the back, and tests as a very strong 20kt, so it might be finer. The flower head measures 1/2 x 7/8”, and the whole pin is 2-1/2” long. It weighs 2.4g. The pin is a little bent, not surprisingly given the high gold content (please see photos), and course that can’t be seen when it’s worn, and could easily be straightened. This hand wrought silver bracelet was designed by Hector Aguilar in the early 1940's. The carved rope wraps all the way around the bracelet. Weighing 35 grams it measures 3/4" wide and about 2 1/2 inches across. The piece has a beautifully aged patina with normal wear. Fully hallmarked for Aguilar on the inside.

This pretty lavalier/pendant is enameled on both sides - unusual for Arts & Crafts pieces. Circa 1941-1950, this extremely rare Antonio Pineda pin is a book-piece shown on p. 89 of Silver Seduction: The Art of Mexican Modernist Antonio Pineda.

Measuring 3 1/8" tall, this pin has stunning detail and is exquisitely crafted. The center fuchsia flower dangles freely. As such, the pin can be worn at various angles to create different looks.
