Spratling designed this eye catching "entwined hands" buckle in the late 1940's. Measuring 5" X 2 1/4" & weighing 49 grams the piece is in beautiful condition. The back loops will accommodate up to a 1 inch strap. The buckle can also be worn as a pendant. Spratling also designed a similar "hands" necklace. Hallmarks are WS 925. A later version, (c.1965) of this buckle appears on p. 147 of WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE by Penny Morrill.

A very good Retro tank ring worked in 14K yellow gold and platinum set with diamonds and natural sapphires (natural sapphires in a Retro ring are rather unusual). The larger diamonds (.40 ct, .25 ct, and .25 ct) are all old European cuts. The smaller stones are single cuts. Known as the Josephine Baker bracelet, this c1935 Bakelite and brass cuff was originally designed to hold face powder and a small square powder puff. The inner diameter of the cuff is 2 1/4" (6 cm) x 2" (5.5 cm). The opening is 1 1/4" (3.5 cm). At the widest part, the cuff measures 1 11/16" (4.9 cm). It tapers to 1/2" (1.2 cm) at the open ends.
