Circa mid-century, this is a seldom seen design from Margot de Taxco. The original drawing is shown in "Margot Van Voorhies : The Art of Mexican Enamelwork", and is called "Intricate Knot". This is collector quality. The two shades of enamel are blue with gold flecks, and white with silver flecks. Necklace is blue with gold flecks. The pendant doubles as a pin. It's a stunning necklace, nice and long at just over 20" closed, wearable length...

Here is a show-stopping charm bracelet! It has 20 charms. 11 are karat gold, the others are gold fill except (of course) the coral elephant and the silver enameled donkey. Check out the photos – there is a wild variety, from tools to musical instruments, to a gun (a pistol?). There are a few rings where there apparently used to be charms – perfect places to add your own. The charms are hung on a modified paperclip chain marked 14k gold. 6 charms are articulated...

Here is a very classic brooch, in the style of Lucien Gautrait, featuring a ribbon and flower motif, with a ring of white enamel in the center. The pearl on the dangle may be a replacement (as so many are). The brooch is marked with the French eagle for 18k gold and partial owl marks with “73”, indicating a piece that was imported into France post 1893 and assayed in the town of Rouen. There is also what looks like a blurry French maker’s mark, so the marks are confusing...

Dating around the middle of Matilde Poulat's career, this sterling repousse brooch exhibits the tell-tale texturing and beading that characterizes her silver-work and is adorned with bezel-set turquoise and red coral. Poulat's inspiration quite often originated in the natural environment with doves, owls, flowers, fish and, in our case, a sea horse featured in her jewelry. Evocative of the tranquility of deep sea waters, this little creature will put a smile on your face every day of the week...

Slick and elegant in such a less-is-more way this set of vintage sterling silver Kupitaan Kulta modernist earrings was created in Finland in the 1950s-60s period. It seems to me that in this set Elis Kauppi tempered bare bones minimalism with the lightest possible trace of vermeil that covers the inner surfaces of the earrings' rectangular building blocks and gives the illusion of a textured finish. Spectacularly beautiful they measure 2 3/8" long by 3/8" wide and weigh 7.2 grams (for the set)...

This lovely (unmarked but tested) 10kt gold jewel is from the early 1800s (around Jane Austen's time), when cannetille work was the vogue: very fine gold wires twisted into thin ropes and then formed into rosettes and other shapes. The amethyst has a lovely delicate shade of purple, and weighs approximately 2.5 carats – it’s very deep. (Amethysts are said to bring calm, and help banish headaches.) The bale is decorated very nicely, in keeping with the rest of the piece...

Handmade in the 1960s this ring crafted in 835 silver follows the Arts and Crafts tradition in its chased, textured and oxidized silver-work and the choice of amber as its "stone". Active in the 1960s and 1970s in Germany, Deodat is the first of the two Kleists known for their jewelry, the second being his son, Helmut, who started work in 1965. Beautifully made, carefully finished, the ring evokes the craftsmanship of earlier ages yet looks very much at home on our modern fingers...

Here is one of our favorite lavaliers! It is quintessential Art Nouveau, having a graceful and elegant shape, with a flower and the classic whiplash motif. The central amethyst weighs approximately 1/2 carat, and it is highlighted by 28 seed pearls. Feng Shui practitioners believe amethysts aid in purification, and give access to a higher plane of energy. It tests as 14k, and is that lovely subtle old rose gold color. It weighs 3.3g and measures 1” x 1” at the widest points. Chain not inclu...

Here is a Victorian gold-in-quartz (also called “gold quartz” and “gold-bearing quartz”) brooch. Gold-in-quartz is rare and becoming more so. It’s our understanding that it is now found in very few places in the world – possibly only one mine in California. The 14k setting has twisted gold on top of a carved gold oval. It measures 1-3/8 x 1-1/8" and weighs 6.8g. The pin assembly has been replaced. In excellent condition. The photos are part of the description, so please read carefull...
