Beautiful, high end, thick green poured glass stones, aka Gripoix (so-called because it was her jewelry making process and not by the House of Gripoix), set in gold plated closed back metal with clip so they are very comfortable. There is a gold plated hand soldered rope around the edges of it indicative that they were completely hand made. These look sort of like what KJL or YSL did but are unsigned as to whom made them. They measure about 1" across and 1/2" high...

Question marks, whether straight or inverted, seem to have provided a fun, tongue-in-cheeck motif when Taxco maestros were designing earrings. I have seen them hanging off repousse semi-spheres, studded with turquoise cabs and even having cascabeles themselves. Yet this big, bold and beautiful set goes above and beyond its peers. Sculptural repoussage, tiny beading accents and oxidation combine here with gorgeous bezel-set amethyst cabs in a curvaceous, sexy pair of Mexican Deco earrings...

A copper glyph of a highly stylized Maya or Aztec bird motif is set in sterling and adorns the triangular dangle in a set of Los Castillo "mixed metals" earrings from the mid-20th c.. As is the case with many pieces executed in the "metales casados" technique, here too an ancient design is re-interpreted, given a slick, modernist twist and thrust into our contemporary world in a way that ensures it belongs and expresses our modern sensibilities...

An elegant Belle Epoque 18K yellow gold negligee pendant necklace, the old mine cut diamond drops formed as pansies. Pendant necklaces of this type, called negligees (from the French word for "careless"), were so called because of their assymetry. The subtle pansy design is achieved by combining three larger diamonds at the top of each cluster to represent larger petals, and two smaller petals at the bottoms...

Elegant simplicity is what characterizes this modernist Mexican silver and moss agate hinged bangle bracelet. The intermingling hues of green in the stone and the sweeping curve of the silver frame that surrounds it are the only "flourishes" interrupting the warmly glowing sterling bangle. Yet it is enough to attract the eye and offer that touch of visual interest which keeps the gaze captive and lightens the spirit. The bracelet has a 6 3/4" inner circumference (clasped) and its width varies b...

A fabulous pair of mid-century 18K yellow gold and platinum earclips by Cartier set with brilliant round cut diamonds. The gold surfaces are cast in a rough texture that contrasts beautifully with the bright diamonds set in platinum. The diamonds, as expected of Cartier, are extremely fine quality (E color/VVS2 clarity). French jewelry became more flamboyant in the 1960s, as wartime restrictions eased. Most importantly, jewels were designed for the "modern woman" who wanted to transition her loo...

A very fine 18K gold watch pin depicting a mythological griffin grasping a pearl in its mouth. The back-swept wings are bordered with rose cut diamonds set in silver. The detailing for the feathers and scales is superb, and even the reverse is realistically engraved. The design is deeply three-dimensional. Mythological subjects were particularly popular in at the beginning of the Art Nouveau period. The reverse is stamped with an 18K hallmark. The back also retains the original watch hook, clasp...
