Elaborate wirework is the defining feature of these distinctive cuff links, which are unmarked but test as silver. They are gilded, including the wirework, and are enhanced with maroon enamel. The buttons are attached to silver gilt bars by chains. They come in a small box with the name of a jeweler in Lisbon, Portugal. The buttons measure a little over 5/8 inch in diameter.

A grotesque mask dangles from this silver key ring, suspended by a short piece of sturdy cable chain. The mask and chain are likely Mexican, evoking a grimacing face with bared teeth and hanging tongue similar to various masks of the ancient Americas. Here are a pair of late 19th-century oval cuff buttons decorated with horseshoes of inlaid dyed black onyx. They are probably American; the round backs show a sterling mark and possible maker’s mark for Ludwig, Redlich & Co. of New York. The surface exhibits the warm patina of considerable age, but the inlay shows no loss. The backs are well soldered and secure. Each oval button measures about ¾ inch long by ½ inch wide. Weight: 5.2 grams total

Composed of oblong and rounded sides decorated with Middle Eastern-style motifs of embedded silver vines, leaves and stars. The cuff links are unmarked, but test definitively for silver. The bridge chains are securely fastened and composed of figure 8-like links; the wood and silver decoration exhibit no cracks or other signs of wear. The rounded sides measure just under ½ inch diameter. They are dated conservatively at around 1960.

This lovely pair of art deco cuff links has a formal look, the result of a black mother-of-pearl background. Each eight-sided button is framed by an embossed white metal rim; the centers are set with tiny faux seed pearls. The backs and bridges are gilded, and bear the block-letter mark for Krementz, of Newark, NJ. Each button measures 1/2 inch wide.
