These dramatic, rectangular cuff links are decorated with applied geometric abstract motifs, enhanced by oxidation. The rectangular panels swivel on hinges, as do the anchor bars. The anchor bars are marked sterling and bear a patent number for a 1948 hinge design; there is no maker’s mark, but they are likely American made. The panels measure a little over 1 inch by ½ inch. Boy, does this set take me back. I have to admit I am old enough to remember when we bought lots of these kinds of sets for the men in our lives, and Swank was always the best of them. The tie clip is 2" long and is simple with a sort of swirl design at the end. The matching cufflinks are about 7/8" in diameter. The set is in good condition, with some small signs of wear such as might be expected...

A fine pair of Art Deco 14K yellow gold double-sided cufflinks, the faces set with sugarloaf cabochons of colorful jasper chalcedony. The pattern of inclusions is similar to moss agate, but the greenish wisps appear against a semi-transparent background of deep rust instead of the more typical creamy beige. They’re really quite attractive stones in an unusual pattern. The faces are attached by solid connectors stamped with Larter’s 14K hallmark.

I found this as a lot of men's jewelry and decided to leave it that way, even though there is a pair of cuff links in the lot that I have seen bring $500 or more. But, I will get to that in a minute. The brown leather box was made in England and you can read its funny saying in one of the pictures...
