A lovely Chinese carved green jade pendant in the form of a melon with a crane, leaf and integral bail ring. The jade has good translucency, light mottling, and nicely saturated color.
The crane, appearing along the upper left side of the melon's front, frequently represents longevity; the coins prosperity; and the melon itself has a number of meanings including fertility and plenty.
The pendant was originally one of several carvings incorporated into a very good 1920s Chinese necklace...

Back in the 1960s and 1970s, even casual jewelry was made proudly and well. This is a really good example: an early import from India made of thick, sturdy brass overlaid with slabs of thick, sturdy wood -- artfully carved and colored with wildlife stripes.
We hippies (yes, I was one) adored this sort of thing. Sadly, we weren't awfully good at taking care of our toys, or even keeping track of them, so a bracelet this good is a rare find today...

Outstanding very big vintage Santo Domingo necklace with a double strand of turquoise free form beads and spiny oyster heishe beads, and two large jaclas with turquoise heishe beads and cream stone beads. With the original stringing done in the traditional manner, on heavy string with some ends visible. Collectors may wish to preserve this but it could certainly be restrung.
