Very rare brass and enamel pin signed "MACCHIARINI", c.1940's. Peter Macchiarini(deceased) was a very famous San Francisco modernist jewelry designer and his works are extremely desirable. The provenance of this piece has been identified by his son, Dan Macchiarini. He states that it was a private commission by someone wanting a clown face. Glorious large handmade modernist silver and enamel pin showing three fish swimming. The greatness of this pin is the overlapping of the fish as well as the silver and the enamel. Made of very heavy gauge silver and of good size, it measures almost 3" by 1 3/4". The enamel colors are: turquoise(water), light brown/black/red(fish#1), yellow/brown(fish#2), and green/white(fish#3).
