These wonderful earring were designed by Los Castillo family member, Chato Castillo. Chato is known for his high relief repousse work, so this is an interesting divergence for what he's known for. The backs are sterling silver and are hallmarked "Chato Castillo Taxco Mexico" with the Chato monogram. They are in excellent condition.

Vintage Mexican silver repousse clamper bracelet in a classic fern design, this piece with its dramatically twisting tips was not made in Taxco, as is the norm, but in Iguala, one of the country’s big silversmithing centers. This specific version of the fern is a favorite of mine because of the powerful sense of movement it exudes and the fleshiness of its repoussage. Great oxidation deepens the recesses in the design and makes the raised surfaces glow with a warmth that captures the eye...
