Here is a sterling silver buckle with a floral motif set off by plique a jour (translucent enamel). These buckles with plique are quite unusual. The plique is red, two shades of blue, and green. It is signed with a “JK” above another “JK” in a box. It has marks for London, 1886, and a duty mark. Measuring 3-1/8” x 2-1/4", it weighs 32.7g or 1.16 oz. It is in very good condition. The plique has a few hairlines and some bubbles, which is normal...

A very fine, super rare vintage Mexican silver repousse brooch. Mexico City, ca. 1930s. This lovely piece features Repousse silversmith work so finely drawn that the long feathered plumes of this treasured bird’s tail would seem to nearly shimmer and gently blow with the imagined winds as it perches on its sterling tree limbs...

Operated by the Jacopo brothers, Arte en Plata was a silver store based in Mexico City through which several independent maestros sold their work. There are a few specific designs that I have come to associate with the name over my years of dealing in vintage Mexican jewelry but even though they are characterized by a modernist flair, I had never encountered such a minimalist example as this owl pendant before...

One of the Mexico City maestros active in the first decades of Mexico's 20th c. Silver Renaissance, Abraham Tobias was a contemporary of Matilde Poulat's and he created jewelry in the so-called Mexico City style repousse. Many of his pieces are based on Matl originals and admittedly the boldness and quality of his repoussage is very very close to, if not often en par with, Matilde's own...

An exceptional Vintage Mexican silver bracelet. This tour de force piece is worked in repousse. Bearing powerful pre-Colombian iconography which I imagine romantically references as homage to the famous, much beloved poet Nezahualcoyotl. Provenance to important vintage Mexican silver collection. Every time I gaze on this piece I'm reminded of bits and pieces from Nezahualcoyotl's work, "All the flower bracelets, your flowers, are dancing...

We love this necklace! It features a central silver panel with a big labradorite cab, 3/4” x 9/16”. The whole panel with dangles measures 13/16” x 1-7/8”. The wearable length is 24”, and there are 20” worth of labradorite beads, most having the distinctive blue flash for which that stone is known. The clasp has a very pretty leaf and flower design, and it’s stamped 925 on the back. The beads are on knotted string, and there are 4 (untested) silver beads...

One of Margot's most sculptural creations, this is also a bracelet that one needs to hold and run one's fingers over its carved beauty in order to fully appreciate it. There are so many elements combined in this design: the Greek key, strategically placed beading, mirrored layered wings, cut-outs. Yet they all come together perfectly, none of them superfluous - the bracelet is tactile, even sexy, if I dare say so, and its weight feels so intimate around the wrist... With an inner circumference o...

Outstanding vintage silver overlay cuff by Hopi artist Steven Sockyma who has been producing since 1969 and won first place at Indian Market in Santa Fe in 1975. His work is crisp and precise as featured in this piece. Measuring a full 2" wide and weighing 99 grams, this cuff measures 6 1/2" around total in the inside, including gap, but could carefully be adjusted by a skilled silversmith. Fine original condition and signed as shown. A gorgeous traditional Hopi silver overlay example.

This wood and sterling silver sauce or gravy boat is one of William Spratling's most graceful creations. The wood handles are beautifully integrated with the base. Silver dots, an element used in his jewelry as well, add the perfect subtle adornment to this ideal form. The piece is 3 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches from handle to handle. Condition is excellent. The mark dates from 1964 - 1967. Numerous books have been written about Spratling and a museum exhibit that traveled the country prominen...

A lovely vintage silver and turquoise cabochon Victorian necklace. This fine piece features a central attached pendant in the shape of a ‘remember’ and ‘love’ knot embellished with original, richly hued turquoise cabochons. The chain element is a delicate, fine, and intricately patterned silver link that closes with a modified ‘trouser’ type catch. I found the piece at a small outdoor flea market while traveling in Texas. In fine vintage condition with original oxidation intact. Mea...
