Surprisingly comfortable in length for a vintage Mexican necklace of this period, this Deco sterling silver and amethyst foliate beauty comes with its matching earrings. There is something very powerful in the meticulously (albeit with a certain endearing naivete) hand-cut and chased leaf motifs prevalent in the design...

Circa 1930's - 1940's, this easel frame is the work of Matilde Poulat / Matl.
It's entirely hand-wrought and exquisitely crafted, with two beautiful repoussé birds. There is a faceted amethyst along with branch coral and turquoise and coral cabochons. It's very rare to find one of these frames which was made by Matilde Poulat, herself, in this early time frame, and this one pulls out all the stops.

Here is a highly detailed pin by Edmond-Henri Becker, one of the best-known French medalist. We really love all the details! The front shows Joan of Arc (patron saint of France and of soldiers) in profile, also a shield decorated with a sword, a crown, and 2 fleurs-de-lis. Above her head is a banner saying “Jehanne d’Arc” and “1429”. The back shows a banner with a saint (or possibly the Madonna and Child – the metal is somewhat worn here) with two people praying...
An unbelievable William Spratling necklace comprised of 2 sizes of silver discs. The large disc is .5 inch and the smaller is 3/8 of an inch in diameter. The last example of a small Los Castillo "onix negro" jewelry collection I acquired a little time ago, this mod bracelet is perfect for the medium to smaller wrist. Its thick links remind me of mahjong tiles and I am captivated by their minimalist geometry. Easy to wear yet definitely a bracelet whose weight feels warm and familiar when you have it on - the perfect accessory to add that little bit of style to make it special. Measuring 6 3/8" long (wearable) by 1/2" wide it weighs 50.0 grams...
Fun and perfect for this summer - especially if you decide to stay away from beaches! - this mod sterling silver "fish with air bubble" necklace by Los Castillo comes out of the workshop's "onix negro" line of jewelry. I find this technique fascinating - it poses a big challenge to the lapidary's and silversmith's abilities as the onyx slab has to be carved out precisely to the dimensions of the sterling inlay that will be set in it...
Circa mid-century, this bracelet was produced by Los Castillo.
It's a hand-wrought piece with a large presence, composed of four curved sections. There are three pendant/dangles/pendulums attached to the center section, and each panel is separated by three spiral circles with oxidized recesses. Closure is a tight and secure tongue in box.
Measures a closed, wearable length of about 6 1/4"...
