Antonio Pineda's "comma" parure is one of the book-pieces for Taxco modernism. Concave repousse "comma" links, each one accented by a stone cabochon, beguilingly wrap around the neck and hug the wrist. The design's appeal is evidenced by the fact that many of Antonio's contemporaries took advantage of its success and came up with their own versions. Signed by a listed yet still unidentified Taxco maestro, this example is adorned with golden sheen obsidian cabochons...

These post back earrings measure 5/8" across and 1 1/4" high. Marked Mary Gage once on the back of one earring and multiple times on the back of the other. Appears to be stamped over itself or stamped over sterling. Also marked Mary Gage in the fold.
Looks like one of the posts on the back has been replaced. They hold securely...

Ornate and beautifully made, with a fantastic patina that makes the juxtaposition between the darkened recesses of the design and the glowing raised surfaces even more dramatic, this ornate and difficult-to-find Mexican silver ring is signed by Gerardo Lopez. I consider Lopez one of Taxco's foremost maestros in the art of repoussage and the ring at hand is, I believe, a telling example. I will let the photos continue the story... Currently a sz 4.75 US, it can be easily re-sized by a jeweler...

Antique plique a jour (translucent enamel) jewels are hard to come by these days – they are somewhat fragile and rare, and we believe that many of them are now in private collections. This lovely maple leaf pin is highlighted with paste accent stones along the main veins. The green plique is a very nice rich color. It seems to be missing one leaf. However, someone filled the space with a pretty drop made of green agate, so the loss is hardly noticeable. It is centered by a faux pearl...

Surprisingly comfortable in length for a vintage Mexican necklace of this period, this Deco sterling silver and amethyst foliate beauty comes with its matching earrings. There is something very powerful in the meticulously (albeit with a certain endearing naivete) hand-cut and chased leaf motifs prevalent in the design. Maybe it's the leaves' serrated edges; maybe it's the confident way they combine with the beading and amethyst cabs to form the necklace's central station and the elegant earring...
