Circa 1950's, this bold, edgy cuff from Bernice Goodspeed is a book-piece design shown on p. 132 of the Morrill/Berk book "Mexican Silver".

It's a hand-wrought piece with an intricate deeply carved design and an oxidized background. This is a fabulous bracelet, and one which is rarely seen.

Being offered is a rare and fine circa 1965 sterling silver bracelet by Sigfrido ‘SIGI’ Pineda of Taxco, Mexico. Heavy gauge handcrafted silver bracelet in a modern biomorphic design. Sigi, cousin of Los Castillo founder, Antonio Castillo, spent years working with Los Castillo, Salvador Teran, Felipe Martinez, and Margot de Taxco before opening his own shop in 1952. Dimensions: size 6 1/2"; 1 1/4" wide. Marked. In excellent condition.

This is an absolutely gorgeous necklace created by Nestor. The elaborate centerpiece measures 2 15/16" wide and features a huge lab created purple stone in a four pronged setting. Necklace measures a closed, wearable length of 17", and it lays perfectly on the neck. Signed and hallmarked "Nestor Hecho en Taxco 925 Sterling" with an eagle assay. Weight is 48.5 grams. In excellent vintage condition.

A very rare sterling silver bracelet by Salvador Teran. Depicts a stylized woman praying, carved out of what looks like bone. Also has one curved bone piece on either side of the center section. Marked Salvador, Sterling, Mexico, Design # 510 and Eagle # 36. Measures 7" around and 1 3/8" at the widest. Has a tongue and box closure which snaps tightly and a safety chain. In wonderful condition with a warm patina. Collector quality.

His work is a testament to his exceptional talent and his commitment to impeccable craftsmanship and the use of choice materials. I love all his jewelry but I believe that he was at its best working within the confines of modernism which he enriched with references to Mexico’s archeological past...

A pre-1948 pair of vintage Mexican silver earrings of exceptional design that goes with all Matl pieces. The color of the stones is a turquoise green. These are 2 in. tall and 2.75in. wide at the widest. The weight is 8.5 grams heavy. Properly hallmarked as shown with ICM, these earrings are remarkable and rare.

Rare and spectacular sterling bangle bracelet with inlaid black onyx polka dots by Los Ballesteros circa 1945. This big, bold , amazing piece measures 7" around in the inside total. One of the few female designers of Mexico's 20th c. Silver Renaissance that we know of, Bernice Goodspeed arrived in Mexico's capital in 1930, according to Bille Hougart. Even though she and her painter husband, Carl Pappe, identified as writers and artists primarily, they opened a shop in Taxco where they sold not only their books and artwork but also jewelry that Bernice herself designed...

Hallmarks date these Hector Aguilar earrings 1940-1948. Perfect flowers, each with a domed center, leaves, and tiny beading, make these earrings both elegant and classy for everyday use or a special occasion. Screwbacks work perfectly. Measures 7/8" wide. Weight is 12 grams. Signed and hallmarked "HA 940 Taxco. Excellent vintage condition.

This beautiful, sterling silver bracelet measures just under 7 1/2" long. Each of the 7 links are bezel-set with colorful abalone. They are shaped like upside down triangles, similar to the later, carved, Aztec mask jewelry. Each link is surmounted on the classic Taxco, Mexico square of 4 round beads / balls. The back is marked ANR 925; but, it was stamped in reverse, see pictures. This great piece is circa 1920's to 1940's.

Attributions are a difficult issue in the world of vintage Mexican silver jewelry - they are almost never accepted. If a piece is not signed, it’s just not signed! In this case, however, I will put my years of experience behind my suggestion that the necklace I am presenting here is the work of Reveriano Castillo. When I acquired it, it had no clasp and since the specific Reveri design is usually marked exactly there, the connection to its maker was lost...

The "Jewels by Antonio" hallmarks dates 1949-1953. This is a book-piece design shown on page 152 of Silver Seduction : The Art of Mexican Modernist Antonio Pineda.

It's a fabulous ring with a huge presence. Size is 8.25. Height on top is just shy of 1/2". 1" wide.

Weight is a substantial 17.3 grams.

Signed and hallmarked "Jewels by Antonio Taxco Mexico", with the design # PP451.

Bird doll motif. Pre assay era Made in Mexico bird pin brooch. Early - tested at least sterling - colossal 4 3/4" north to south with 2 turquoise beads. This figural exhibits flowers in the style of Fred Davis or Matilde Poulat. Repousse and chase workmanship.
The native peoples were known to make dolls representing the local animals for their children to play. Today those same children are being taught the value in Nature Tourism...

Circa mid-century, this is a spectacular set of bracelet and earrings from Sigi Pineda. Bracelet can be worn by either a man or woman. The bracelet features a huge and gorgeous gold sheen obsidian stone, which measures just over 1 3/8" square. The stone was cut so that ribbons of gold sheen run on the diagonal. Bracelet is hinged on two sides to open nice and wide and easily fits over the wrist. Closure is a tight and secure slide in tongue in groove, and a safety latch...

Beautiful classic Mayan face pin by the great designer, Fred Davis. It is marked "FD STERLING MADE IN MEXICO" and is in excellent condition. It measures 2" wide by 1 3/8" long. This is a great example by one of the best Mexican designers who started the whole movement....Insured shipping cost is $17 in the USA.

From his third design period, hallmarks date this Spratling cuff 1964-1967. It's a book-piece design, shown on p.109 of Spratling Silver: A Field Guide. There are ten silver rivets. Should fit up to a 6 1/2" wrist. Width is 1 5/8" in the center front. Opening/gap is 1 1/16". Weight is 53.4 grams. Signed and hallmarked with the WS Print Square "WS William Spratling .925 Taxco Mexico" and the eagle assay 63. In fine vintage condition.

A spectacular and rare Mexican sterling clamper signed by noted maker RAF with his eagle 28 and signed again by another mark in the circle as shown. This has an airy feel to the floral design with lots of open space and the weight is 65 grams. the diameter of the oval for size is 2.5in. which equates to approximately 7in. wearable. The repousse is heavy and can be compared to Margot de Taxco's work in thickness of silver. The front face is 2.75in...
