Interesting and unusual print by a so far unidentified artist, 10 1/4" by 8" inside the mat, 15" by 12 1/2" simply framed, the subject a white-haired fiddler seated in a chair. The Mark Twain-appearing man vaguely resembles figures you've seen in prints by Thomas Hart Benton, and the print REALLY resembles a work by artist Eric Bransby (born 1916), recently recognized with an exhibition at a well-known Denver gallery...

Original painting/calligraphy by Jacques Le Roux (French, 1923-2010), on antique paper, possibly influenced by Mayan iconography. This work is still in the artist's original frame and bears the artist's label verso. In excellent original condition. As a painter Jacques Le Roux exhibited alongside Picasso and Miro. He was influenced by the Surrealists and Andre Breton, whom he met at the end of WWII...

Constantine Kluge, French, 1912-2003. This wonderful oil on canvas is 28 by 35.5 in a modern 3" gold leaf frame for overall dimensions of 34" by 41.5". It is in very good condition and is signed lower right.

At first glance most would think this a print, but it is guaranteed to be an original drawing. The work on paper, measuring 22" by 18", and 27" by 23" in contemporary gold framing, is signed at lower left in a flowing signature "Petzoldt", followed by "Mchn. 28" (Munich, 1928). The handwriting of the signature and overall nineteenth century appearance of the drawing suggests this could be 1828, but the paper would definitely appear to be of the 20th century...

Brian Sweetland; Country Road in Winter. Sweetland lives and paints in southern Vermont. He apprenticed under Dean Fausett, founding member of the Souther Vermont Arts Center. He has exhibited in many places includingthe Bosston Copley Society. Dimensions; 19.5" x 20.5" sight ; 26.5:" x 27.5" framed. Very fine condition.

This is a small California painting on board of the sequoia or redwood forest, 8 1/4" by 11" framed, unsigned, protected behind glass. Condition is excellent. Frame is wood. Though small, the artist captures the majesty of the cathedral-like groves for which the state is famous.

A black and white photograph of one of the most famous of the French chateaux, the Chateau de Chenonceau on the River Cher in France's Loire Valley, the work signed at lower right margin in ink with what appears as "D. Esicaud/Tours". Tours is a city in the region. The piece measures 18" by 14" and 23 1/2" by 19 3/4" as framed. Condition is excellent. The castle dates to the early 1500's and is a major site on the tourist circuit of France.

A vintage study in charcoal of an infant on its back, 12" by 15" (16" by 19" framed), signed at lower right with what appears as "H Collins", and dated adjacent Sept. 14, 1953. I do not see a listed name that would correspond with this name or variants of it. The study is artistic, reminiscent of timeless Italian Renaissance drawings. There is age toning of the paper and some lighter, whitish areas at lower left, above the infant's left arm, and at lower right.

**ONE OF A NUMBER WORKS BY THE ARTIST IN MY SHOP**, this is an etching on paper print, 8 5/8" by 10 1/2" inside the mat (14 1/4" by 16 1/4" as framed), signed in pencil at lower left by noted western American artist GEORGE ELBERT BURR (1859-1939). At lower right is written the title of the work, "Summer Cloud--Apache Trail--Ariz". Burr's etchings and watercolors of the Great Southwest, especially Arizona and Colorado, are eagerly sought after by collectors...

Circa 1960 oil on canvas painting of the familiar and oft-painted Moulin Rouge night club in the Montmartre section of Paris, 12" by 16" (18" by 22" in the pleasant period frame), signed at lower right by mid century Parisian artist H. PIERREL. I do not see a formal "listing" for the artist, although I have encountered other works by this talented hand. The painting should bring back memories of voyages past, and should please any true Francophile...

This is the original cartoon art (5" by 16 3/4") for the daily strip of June 26, year unknown, by well known figure in American cartoon art, MERRILL BLOSSER (1892-1983). Blosser drew the comic strip for over 50 years, from 1915 to 1965. He started professionally in 1912 at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, worked for Motor Cycling Magazine, and contributed to Denton Publishing in Cleveland...
