On the stretcher is written "Painted by R A Wilson" and "Notre Dame Church in Paris"...

NOT a print, this is an original drawing of Humpty Dumpty in ink and gouache. The work measures 10 1/4" by 7 1/2" and 17 1/4" by 15 1/4" as framed. The character of Humpty Dumpty dates to the 19th century , and the "anthropomorphic egg" character has become one of the most beloved and famous in all of nursery rhymedom. The piece was likely dated in the mid 20th century. It would make a wonderful addition to a child's room. Condition is excellent.

Australian aboriginal art, painted on eucalyptus bark in the traditional manner, the imagery featuring four long-necked birds and leaves, against a patterned background. Colorful oil on canvas unframed painting (24" by 20") featuring lily pads on a woodland pond, signed at lower right by listed California artist JOHN MARTIN HISS (1891-1972). It likely dates to about the 1950's. Hiss was essentially a talented hobbyist artist; he is best known as a physician and orthopedic surgeon who devised remedial treatments for disorders of the feet. The work is in excellent vintage condition. I note an inconsequential hairline scratch at mid right.

Watercolor on paper laid down long ago on a thin old board, the subject being fruit, including green and purple grapes as well as a melon, measuring 10 3/4" by 18 1/4" inside the mat (19" by 26 1/2" as framed), apparently unsigned, dating likely to the late nineteenth century. This is a fine example of American still life art of the period. I would imagine the unknown artist would be listed, due to the quality of the work...

Found in Maine, is this oil on canvas painting, 24" by 20 1/2" in its silver metal frame, signed at extreme lower right "Judith Nelson Harper" and titled on the reverse "Red, White and Blue". It is a striking work, though I see minimal information on the artist---I believe just one minor bit of information shows up on a net search. Regardless, this will please anyone looking to brighten up a modern interior with original art from the 1970's...

PAIR of framed Chinese or Japanese landscape watercolor paintings in traditional style, each featuring a mountain landscape, a small river in one and a waterfall in the other running into the lake or ocean. Blue-roofed buildings pine trees add to the beauty of the scenes. Each has a red chop mark and some calligraphy at lower right, presumably the name of the artist. Measurements 12 3/4" by 9 3/4" each (23 1/4" by 15 1/2" framed).

Linocut print, the sheet 10 1/4" by 14", unframed, numbered at lower left 70/100 and pencil signed at lower right and dated there 1971, the "HB" blind stamp nearby, by the important and still highly underrated Swiss-California modernist HANS GUSTAV BURKHARDT (1904-1994). The subject is somewhat uncertain; perhaps a look at a catalogue raisonne of the artist's graphic works would provide the title...
