A pair of old prints in color---I believe, some sort of lithography process similar to chromolithography in feeling, one featuring the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, the other the Second Empire "Pont au Change" bridge connecting the Ile de la Cite to the Rive Droite. The current bridge was rebuilt between 1856 and 1860 and therefore bears the letter N, the imperial insignia of Napoleon III. It is composed of three 31 meter long arches and is 30 meters wide...

Large vintage watercolor and gouache painting of colorful flowers in a vase guarded on either side by startling white peacocks, 19" by 34 1/2" (26" by 41 1/2" framed), signed at lower left center with initials "VEJ". The work has some age but is not antique. Condition is excellent. A very decorative piece for your interior.

A PAIR of pastel on paper drawings, each measuring 18" by 24", though they are currently in different frames, one 32" by 38", the other 27" by 32 1/2", the optical illusion making one appear larger than the other. Both works are signed with initials "CA" at bottom right. I confirmed with a Swiss auction house that they are not by Swiss artist Cuno Amiet, therefore they are offered as-is, unattributed. Most likely, they are of American origin...

A very finished, beautifully executed pastel of a middle-aged lady, she nicely coiffed and elegant in appearance, the work signed at lower right "CARLES". I have researched the work, (including contacting an acknowledged expert on well-known Pennsylvania artist Arthur Carles Jr. 1882-1952) and she does not feel it has the characteristics to enable it to be called the work of that noted American painter. A color lithograph print, circa 1930 I believe, pencil signed at lower left margin and with printed signature in the margin at right, by the noted Israeli artist ABEL PANN (1883-1963). The subject is a group of primitively-dressed people near a knoll by a body of water surrounded by trees and hills; the central figure seems to be playing a lute in this poetic, Arcadian place. The print may possibly be from the artist's "Bible" series of 1930. Pann was born in Latvia or Belarus...

A brown ink drawing of two standing men in conversation, signed at lower right in Hebrew script. A Hebrew reader tells me the signature could read "Yashkovsky" or "Shaikovsky" or similar. The work measures 8" by 6" (15 1/4" by 13" framed). The drawing was likely executed circa 1960's to 1980. A simple work which demonstrates the skill of the draftsman.

A beautifully executed atmospheric and luminous watercolor painting of a classic scene of Venice, Italy, including the famous St. Marks Campanile and Santa Maria della Salute church, small boats parked along a wharf at sunrise or sunset. The unsigned work (and no information on reverse side) measures 9 1/4" by 16" (14 1/4" by 20 1/4" in gold metal frame). This work is poetic and certainly of a quality that would suggest a listed artist but without a signature we are stymied...

A pleasant pastel on paper drawing of pink roses, signed at lower right by artist Lora King and dated there '39. On the reverse backing paper the name "Lora King Arnold" is written, and again "Lora Arnold" and original $100.00 price appears. There seems to be minimal information available on the artist (online I did see a 1923-1960 lifespan that may or may not be accurate). The work measures 11 1/4" by 15" (17 1/2" by 21 1/2" in original framing)...

An ink drawing of scrubby dunes, titled at lower left margin "Seascape, after Wm. M. Chase", signed at lower right margin "Hugo Anderson" and initialed and dated nearby 1980. The roughly 6 1/4" by 9 1/2" drawing (11 1/2" by 14 1/2" in metal frame) could be by listed Santa Monica artist Hugo Anderson (1946-)----it was found in the area----but I cannot say with any certainty that that is the case. There being no glass, the drawing has acquired a water splotch at upper right in the sky...

This is a large 20" by 29" watercolor (32 1/2" by 40 1/2" framed) of a 1940's style wood motorboat, the "Aurora" of Glass Island, on a lake or inlet, a number of period figures enjoying the ride, the Canadian Maple Leaf flag at the stern, signed at lower right and dated there Oct. 1985 by the noted Maine-born artist BILL JEWELL (1954-)...

Oil on board still life painting of colorful flowers, 23 1/2" by 23 1/2" (26" by 26" as framed), signed at lower left with stylized initials. The artist is Max Hansen, born 1898. This was acquired from a local family who related that it was painted in Germany by their relative. The work is nicely painted by an obviously talented hand. Condition is very good. Frame is wood.

Two fine engravings of Mount Vernon, and the White House, each framed and measuring 6 3/4" by 8 3/4". These appear to be the same images that have appeared on US currency in the past, and the very high quality type of printing (intaglio?) is the same process. These were produced by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, either as printing proofs, or perhaps as official souvenirs to be sold in a gift shop setting----the Bureau's name is printed at the bottom of each.
