The piece likely was created in the last years of the nineteenth or early years of the 20th century. The shape of the house suggests to me an English rather than American origin...

Original unframed etching on paper, 8 1/8" by 12 3/8" inside the mat (the sheet 10" by 14"), signed in the plate and dated there 42, and pencil signed in the nearby lower right margin by the noted American printmaker LUIGI LUCIONI (1900-1988). **ONE OF SEVERAL PRINTS BY THE ARTIST IN MY SHOP**, this is no doubt a Vermont landscape scene, as Lucioni's prints largely deal with the classic mountain scenery, barns and farms of that rural state...

Small decorative oil on canvas of a scene in Thailand with small boats, a figure paddling one of them, two ducks, and a house on a shore, 6" by 9" (9 1/2" by 12 1/4"), signed at lower right "Sak" or "Yak". Probably tourist art, this is nicely framed and the mat is clean, making for a decorative and inexpensive Asian accent for the home.

Watercolor with gouache highlights on paper painting 13 3/4" by 9 1/2" inside the mat, of a large and impressive castle on a hill, (possibly Windsor Castle near London), a pastoral landscape with figures in the foreground, signed in pencil at lower right "A WATT". There is a listing for an Arthur George Watt (1883-1935) but I doubt this be the same artist, as the techniques and style do not mesh and the dates are wrong; this drawing is earlier...

Watercolor on paper painting of a classic stone castle with figures outside its portals, 14" by 10 1/2" (26 1/2" by 23" as framed), apparently unsigned. This is a circa 1850 work which has survived in presentable condition. There is foxing in the sky principally, as shown, but no large stains. To be sure, there were a lot of anonymous skilled watercolor artists in the British Isles in the 19th century, though this might well have been created by an artist that would be "listed" today.

Tyars/5-9-03/The Brig". A handwritten note of later 20th century date says "ON THE BACK/FROM E.R. HUGHES OR E.V. FLOYD/TO C.H. SULLIVANT ??/ON HIS APPROACHING MARRIAGE". There are some references to Tyars' work online, but little biographical information is available...

Gouache on thin card, 10 1/2" by 7 1/2" (19" by 15 1/4" framed), the drawing featuring modern, possibly biomorphic shapes, in a combination of magenta rose, navy blue, yellow and green (colors popular at that time period), signed in pencil at lower right "GILMORE". I can't tie this to any particular listed artist but the image and colors are pure mid century design. The cream frame is of the period. The mat lines are hand drawn...

Colorful drawing of fruit and a vase of flowers on a table, 20" by 24" framed, signed at lower right "Laurel Scherer". The drawing is beautifully executed by a sure hand, in what appears to be oil crayon or similar medium. I don't see a listing for an artist by this name so will offer this on its decorative merits. Condition is excellent. This colorful, vigorous drawing will look great in a dining area or large kitchen.

This little lithograph (4 3/4" by 6", 10 1/2" by 11" framed) is titled at bottom "Res. of Levi Davis, Jr., Esq.,/Secs. 28 and 29, Big Rock Tpl, Kane Co., Ill." It is a typical view of a prosperous new homestead in the nineteenth century. Estate owners commonly commissioned local artists to create an image of the proud homes and farms springing up in 19th century America, and this is one of those images, now firmly part of Americana.
