This is an antique photograph of earlier days on Charlotte Street, in the very historic town of Saint Augustine, Florida (which dates to 1565). For a long time I suspected this was Saint Augustine but recently I saw another example of this photograph, and in the margin it was titled "Charlotte Street, Saint Augustine". KENWOOD GILES of Bermuda (1899/1900-1972), is this watercolor on paper painting, 18" by 22" (the largest of the three works) inside the mat, 26" by 30" as framed, (no glass and frame loose), the subject a white-roofed island homes on a finger of land bordered by water on several sides, flowering shrubs, coconut palms, a few pines or cedars, a meandering unpaved road and some small boats in the harbor completing the happy scene...

Oil on canvas painting of high snowy mountains framed by aspen in late autumn, 12" by 16" (17 1/4" by 20 1/2" nicely framed) signed in the wet paint by well listed American artist EDWARD NORTON WARD (1928-). This might well be a scene in northern New Mexico or southern Colorado, but the artist was known to have painted in many locales in the American west, including Montana, Oregon and Alaska. A google search shows an interesting tidbit concerning a woman by that name in Kern County, California, estranged from her apparently wealthy husband and attempting to sue him in the year 1937...

Original eighteenth century engraving by the famous artist GIOVANNI BATTISTA PIRANESI (1720-1778), titled "Veduta interna di una delle tre sale sepulcrale credute della Famiglia di Augusto". This is a classic print by the undisputed master of architectural views, the sheet measuring 19 5/8" by 22 3/4". Condition is fair with old oxidation, foxing, and stains in the extreme lower corners, and, the piece has the normal center fold. More photos on request.
