A fine example of American folk art, painted by John Brewster Jr. on natural organic material. The sitter is a gentleman with light red hair and blue eyes. He is attired in a black coat, white vest, white ruffled shirt, and white silk cravat. The miniature is in its original case, the reverse with a glazed window containing a plait of hair atop which is a gold initial.
The condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, bowing, paint loss, or restoration...

A superb enamel on copper portrait miniature by Jean Andre Rouquet. The sitter, dressed in an embroidered red jacket, ia a royal personage, evidenced by the ermine trimmed robe or cloak on his lap.
The condition of the miniature is excellent, with bright colors, no cracks, and no restoration. The duller areas along the edges are due to the way the light reflects off the curved edges. The early 19th century ormolu frame also is in fine condition...

Clowns are a subject which French artist Georges Rouault (1871-1958) visited often, as in the case of wood cut print we offer, which was created in 1932. The print is signed in the block. Condition is visually excellent but not viewed outside of the frame.

The reverend in his black non-liturgical clothing, his wife in her black dress with white lace and cap, and their beautiful daughter, posed beside a tree and attired in a high-waisted gown with a blue ribbon and wearing a tortoiseshell comb in her hair, are set against a blue sky background...

A genre scene in watercolor on paper depicting a boy or young man cutting an apple with his dog while resting under a tree. The condition is very good to excellent with only one very small pin head size loss of paint. The colors are vibrant, possibly with its original frame. This painting dates circa 1810 and is a rare treasure of early Americana, having a Currier and Ives innocence. The painting is unsigned as would be expected for work of this period and style.

A charming poster for an artist showing by French primitive painter Jean Lagru for the dates November 6-30, 1979. While art show posters are not all that rare, this one was issued in a limited edition of 100 as annotated on the poster in pencil lower left. The main image was signed in the plate by the artist. The poster and frame are in excellent condition, but the print has not been examined outside the frame.

Galerie Charpentier Exhibition Poster for 1957 entitled Cent Chefs-d'Oeuvre de l'Art Francais, featuring the Manet painting Henry Bernstein enfant painted in 1881.
