Jean Baptiste Camille Corot, 1796-1875, French, "Paysage d'Italie," Etching, image size 6 x 9 1/8 inches, cat: Melot- C.7, later printing without Cadart lettering, possibly after it was removed. This is a very nice impression with wide borders, printed on a medium weight cream colored laid type paper. This atmospheric image from Corot's series of Italian landscapes is a great example of his ability to capture the life and movement of the scene with loose spontaneous lines and rich tones.
This is a very well painted piece of porcelain featuring two sandpipers nesting amongst a frove of trees and a s doe peers shyly from behind a tree in the distance. This picture has a period frame that complements the image. MC Haywood was an African-American painter born in Saline Michigan around 1853-1854 and studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine arts. He live the majority of this life around Kansas and Missouri. Haywood passed away around 1910-1911...
