A contemporary pastel on paper work, the subject appearing to be the familiar and much-loved canals of Amsterdam in The Netherlands. Canal boats, arching bridge and a church tower in the distance complete the scene. The work measures 9 1/2" by 12 1/2" (13 1/4' by 15 3/4" in simple frame, behind glass---no mat). There is no signature but the artist was able to handle a piece of chalk. The work demonstrates fine handling of the light and reflections...

A lithograph print in black ink, the scene featuring houses and trees, on a printed page, unsigned, created in 1926 by noted French artist MAURICE VLAMINCK (1876-1958) as an illustration for the book "Le Diable au Corps" by novelist Raymond Radiguet. The image is presently framed to a 6" by 7" mat opening (the sheet with text measures 10" by 9 1/2"). As framed measurements are 13 1/2" by 13 1/2"...

An as-is condition example of the work of the much-storied American artist "T. Bailey", circa 1920, measuring 19 1/2" by 29 1/2", unframed, signed at lower right corner. The scene is of an east coast forest bordering a small lake, in autumn, the leaves changing. There is an interesting story about the artist who signed so many paintings "T. Bailey"...

This is an elegant, stylish oil on canvas abstract, executed primarily in white, black, and gray, with some well placed yellow and blue highlights, 42" by 32", unframed. The talented artist unfortunately failed to sign the work, which is highly decorative. The patterns and shading remind of the cubists like Picasso and Braque and I'm trying to think of who else.....evidently the denser portion of the image is meant to be at the bottom...

Oil on canvas still life of flowers in a glass vase, painted in an impressionist hand, 24" by 20" (unframed), signed at lower right corner by artist "L. C. King" and dated there 1939. These flowers could be dahlias. The artist does not appear to be listed but he/she was talented. Frame in perhaps a dark silvery frame for best effect, to pick up on the silvery gray light. Extreme bottom edge has some abrasion from framing, leading to paint loss...

An early 20th century oil on canvas painting of a canoe and rowboat at rest on a quiet creek in a wooded setting. The unsigned work measures 15" by 21" (20" by 25" in the present frame). The painting itself is in presentable condition, though I note four patches of varying age on the reverse, corresponding to repairs. The frame has chips and more significant loss at bottom. Re-framed, this will make an interesting addition to your cabin or rural vacation home.

A watercolor painting of raspberries in a small wicker basket, signed at lower right center with what appears as "J. L. Guinand", and dated there 1895. The work could be by a French artist or perhaps by an American with a French name. I do not see a listing for such an artist. The work measures 7 1/4" by 11 1/2" and 17 3/4" by 21 3/4" framed. The paper is slightly puckered and there is a small unexplained blue area at far right edge that seems out of place...

An ORIGINAL mixed media color caricature drawing of iconic entertainer Madonna, 6 1/4" by 8 1/2" (11" by 13" in present silvery framing), signed at lower right by the obviously highly talented contemporary artist who goes by the fashionably anonymous moniker "14". The work is in pencil, gouache, and color crayon. Madonna is shown with colored blonde hair that extends out quite too far on both sides, and there is the suggestion of her being less-than-young...

A finely executed work, circa 1990, featuring a landscape with distinctive beautiful mallee trees (a type of eucalyptus), a number of sheep contentedly grazing among them, signed at lower right by listed Australian artist ALAN TREGENZA (1961-). Oil on canvas painting of a landscape with trees, a lake and distant mountains, 11 3/4" by 15 3/4", unframed, signed at lower right "Ballon". The work is nicely painted and possibly of French origin. The age would be about circa 1960's/1970's. A standard 12" by 16" frame will make this wall-ready. The condition is excellent.

Etching on paper, 1923, measuring 9" by 13" (15" by 18 3/4" framed---no glass), titled "La Lagune--Venise" in pencil in lower right margin, signed in pencil at lower left margin and numbered there 80 from an edition of 100, by the important artist EDGAR CHAHINE (1874-1947). The influence of Whistler's similar graphic works and drawings featuring Venice is very obvious, what with the big sky and tiny silhouettes of the buildings on the horizon far away...

Acquired as one of a number of works by late Bozeman, Montana artist MARION "MAL" LEWIS (1925-2010), this is a fine collage work, undated, titled "Moonlit Night" on original sticker, not framed (just matted), likely from late in the artist's life. While traveling through Montana I came upon a group of mostly collage, abstract works by this artist, though there is at least one non-abstract work, a New Mexico drawing, that I will be listing. This measures 10" by 18 3/4" inside the present mat...

Oil on canvas contemporary painting of a young woman in a sundress and stylish sun hat, on the deck of a ship, not signed. The work, 19 3/4" by 19 3/4", is unframed and unsigned. Condition is excellent overall, though I note two very light scuffs at right to the left of the lifesaver ring. A cute whimsical work for your wall.

A detailed gouache painting of two female and one male figure in a green landscape with trees and flowers, 9 1/2" by 7 1/2" (13 1/2" by 11 1/2" in gold framing), painted in the centuries-old traditional style of the Indo-Persian School, but contemporary. The condition is excellent and this is a very decorative piece. The amount of work involved to create such a detailed image is stupendous---though the market undervalues the handiwork.

Watercolor painting of some age, 13" by 10 1/2" (22" by 18" framed), the subject simply a tree, but, that subject is handled very beautifully, and the work is signed at lower right by artist Paula Day (on whom I find no information). The interpretation of light and color belies the hand of a talented artist. Judging from the framing materials this dates no later than the mid 1960's and likely earlier. I recommend a new mat only; the frame can be retained.

Oil on canvas painting of autumnal trees in an extensive landscape, signed lower right with a signature that appears as "Jaime Syverson". The work, 24" by 30" (29" by 35" in circa 1950's attractive frame) is an impressive size, and the rich impasto brushwork adds to the appeal. Condition is excellent save for a 1" small narrow loss at extreme top left, and there is a small piece of the frame missing at bottom center. Research has not turned up a listed artist, which is surprising considering ...
