Original watercolor (18" x 24") by Georges-Dominique Rouault (French/ born 1904). This work in its original gallery frame is signed L.R. Georges-D. Rouault has specialized in atmospheric watercolors of Paris on rainy days. He is very well listed (cf: Benezit, for instance).
Original oil on canvas (24" x 30") by David Day (Seattle-Dates unknown). Day was a student of Lorser Feitelson. The nude is from around 1949. It is in excellent condition.
Original lithograph (16" x 19") by Marcello Grassmann (Brazil, born 1925). It is signed and dated (1952) in pencil L.R. and numbered 5/6 L.L. Grassmann is a well listed member of the Brazilian school. His lithographs have been widely exhibited (Venice, Paris, Sao Paulo, etc. We currently have in stock a number of mid-century fine prints, mainly American, by artists such as Reynold Weidenaar, Manfred Schwartz, William Gropper, Jane Baldwin, etc.
Original intaglio print (25" x 18") by Berkley Warner Chappell (American-CA/ Born 1934). The print is signed L.R., dated (1964) and titled: "Come dance with me". Excellent condition, unframed and original. I also have a fascinating large engraving by this artist, entitled "Trilogy".
Original oil on canvas (30" x 36") by Robert Broderson (American/ 1920-1992). Broderson taught at Duke University and at NC State in Raleigh, and after the sixties retired from teaching to devote himself to painting. this painting probably dates from the fifties. It retains its original frame.
"Quelques aventures de Maitre Renard" is a book illustrated by 14 original copper engravings by Joseph Hecht (Polish/French/1891-1951). The work, published by "La jeune gravure contemporaine" dates from 1950 and is probably Hecht's last completed work. It is dedicated in pencil and signed and dated "Paris, 29 Juin 1950" on the cover page. It is complete and in excellent condition. #139/265. Hecht collaborated with Stanley William Hayter at Atelier 17 in Paris in the thirties...
Oil on panel (17" x 13") by Bertha Ballou (1891-1978). Bertha Ballou is an American artist born in N.Y., who studied in Boston and Italy and settled in Spokane, WA. The painting is signed L.L. and on the reverse, and marked "Florence". It dates from the 1920's and is in excellent condition (newer frame).
Original oil on board (24" x 30") by Genevieve (Genevieve Pezet, born 1918, American born but living since the end of World War II in France). This cityscape dates from the 50's, is signed L.R., and is in excellent original condition. Genevieve is known for her sculptures (cf: Dictionary of Modern Sculpture, Tudor Publishing) as well as her paintings, and just had a show at the Galerie Etienne de Causans in Paris.
Original oil on canvas (12" x 16") by Jack Schnitzius (American, born 1931), signed, dated (1968) and titled "Nude with Blue Ribbon" on reverse. This wonderful painting is in excellent condition and retains its original frame. Jack Schnitzius was born in Chicago, and studied at the AIC and at the San Francisco Art Institute. He lived and was active as a painter, architect, and city planner, in Oakland and San Francisco. One of two nudes by this artist currently in our inventory.
Large oil on canvas by Pierre Gaillardot (France, born 1910). The painting measures 28" x 38", is signed L.R., and is in excellent condition. Original frame, gallery stamp on verso (Galerie de Presbourg).

Oil on canvas by Max Band (Lithuanian-American/1900-1974), signed L.L. and dating from around 1940. It measures 18 x 10 and is in excellent original condition, and still in its original frame. Max Band was associated with the Paris School in the pre-war years, before moving to the US. He is known for his still-life paintings, his haunting figures and his religious subjects. His paintings can be found in numerous museums. Listed everywhere...
Original oil on panel (28 x 20) by Max Heimann (Germany-USA), born 1909. Wonderfully detailed self portrait, dated 1936, with exhibition label. This painting was exhibited in Berlin, Shanghai and San Francisco. Excellent condition, original frame. Max Heimann is slowly coming out of obscurity as an artist: he is currently listed in Askart, and his paintings are making it to the auction houses (cf. Bonhams and Butterfields).
