A color pencil or crayon drawing of corn plants in a strange, modernistic landscape, 9 3/4" by 12 3/4" (20" by 23 1/2" in attractive Southwest-style frame, see patterned corners especially) signed at lower right and dated there '83 by listed California artist EVERETT GEE JACKSON (1900-1995). As a late work, it very much still reflects the skill of the artist. Acquired as one of a number of works by late Bozeman, Montana artist MARION "MAL" LEWIS (1925-2010), this is a crayon drawing of a landscape with trees and a small body of water, 8" by 11", (loosely attached to a white mat), likely dating to late in the artist's life. While traveling through Montana I came upon a group of mostly collage, abstract works by this artist, though there is at least one non-abstract work, a New Mexico drawing, that I have listed...

A PAIR of detailed ink drawings, one titled "The Cottage", featuring a tidy home in the English countryside, the other a dated 1911 detailed look at a Gothic church's walls and entrance portal. Affixed to the crumbling old backing is a label for "The Cottage", showing it apparently won the "John J. Burnet Prize" for Alex Nicolson, who was evidently a student in "Club No. 129". So Nicolson was evidently a talented young artist...

A beautifully executed, sensitive set of five study drawings on one sheet of paper, 8 7/8" by 9" (15 3/4" by 14 1/2" in gold metal frame), the work featuring a lonely-looking donkey, titled at lower left "Alistair", dated Sept. 1984 and signed there by the late Scottish woman artist MARYSIA DONALDSON (died 2018). Donaldson captured beautifully her noble subject, who reminds of lonely Eeyore, in his pasture, in the Christopher Robin/Winnie The Pooh stories...

The subject appears to be a European village with figures. The drawing is by California and Massachusetts listed artist DAISY MARGUERITE HUGHES (1882-1968)...

Fine pencil drawing, possibly illustrator art, of a traditional old doorway in New England or elsewhere in the east, 10 1/2" by 7 1/2" inside the mat, 17" by 13 1/2" framed. There are a few listed artists by this name Don Browne (possibly "Browne"----there might be a fainter version underneath) but I don't believe this to be by one of them, though the work is competently executed. The drawing is in clean, fine condition.

A trio of drawings I have owned for about thirty years---all unsigned, one on tracing paper, the other on heavier paper, and double-sided, the subject apparently Indian Rock, a favorite subject of artists since the 19th century when they visited the Naragansett Bay area of Rhode Island. A whimsical drawing of a young child-like chimpanzee seated in a parlor, evidently enjoying a cocktail, a tea kettle in the foreground suggesting that he is about to partake in other civilized human behavior. The drawing is unsigned. I researched a bit on the net to see if it might be by the artists who created Curious George, (Hans-Augusto Rey(Reyersbach) and Margret Rey), but the obvious lack of resemblance to that most famous cartoon ape indicates that this drawing is not of him. Pencil on paper drawing of two men who appear to be having a serious disagreement, the top hatted figure at left about to swing his cane into the other, all while a woman in bonnet watches from rear left in horror. It's a whimsical, humorous piece, measuring 8 3/4" by 7 1/4" inside the mat, 16" by 15" framed. An original drawing of early twentieth century biplane and car, 9" by 12" (17 1/2" by 20 1/2" framed), signed at lower right "Lantz". The work is most likely for an advertisement, for publication. The unusual name makes it tempting to link this to the famed Woody Woodpecker artist Walter Lantz (1899-1994)---and it was found in Southern California, where he worked at the Hollywood studios----but the signature is dissimilar and the work is not the cartoon art for which he is so well known. From one collection, EIGHT framed watercolor drawings (****NOT PRINTS****) of flowering botanical specimens, with their respective Latin classification names written in brown ink, generally at lower left. The works are on an exceedingly delicate tissue-like paper, which is then affixed at edges to a card, causing a puckering effect of the paper. A brown ink drawing of two standing men in conversation, signed at lower right in Hebrew script. A Hebrew reader tells me the signature could read "Yashkovsky" or "Shaikovsky" or similar. The work measures 8" by 6" (15 1/4" by 13" framed). The drawing was likely executed circa 1960's to 1980. A simple work which demonstrates the skill of the draftsman.

The roughly 6 1/4" by 9 1/2" drawing (11 1/2" by 14 1/2" in metal frame) could be by listed Santa Monica artist Hugo Anderson (1946-)----it was found in the area----but I cannot say with any certainty that that is the case.
