Charcoal on paper original drawing signed illegibly at lower right, the subject a seated lady at left, in a Gothic style church entry area. The artist is no doubt listed but deciphering the signature is challenging. The paper is laid on a thin card; interestingly on the back of that is a circa 1950's commercial illustrator's mock-up ad for "Sears Department Managers". The drawing is very accomplished--note the handling of light and shadow...

A gouache (opaque watercolor) painting of a sunset over the Golden Gate Bridge and hilly Sausalito, as viewed from Tiburon. The work is signed at lower right "Milo" along with an anchor cypher. Measurements are 9" by 13 1/2". It is unframed. There are several light abrasions at right, really only one somewhat noticeable at all from normal viewing distance. Very nicely executed, and it really is a spot-on work which captures exactly how this view looks.

The drawing probably dates to the late 19th century or turn of the century; several hounds run towards the viewer's right, evidently chasing some prey. There is no signature. The artist captured the motion very competently. As the drawing is over 100 years old, there are some flaws, including a pinhole in the paper at upper left, some foxing, and a small brown discoloration below the belly of the nearest dog. Inspection of the reverse reveals this is affixed to the mat by old masking tape...

This is ink on heavy paper drawing by the illustrator or political cartoonist, signed at lower right R. M. Vredenburg, measuring 11 1/2" by 14 1/2" inside the mat and 16" by 20" as matted. The humorous work likely was created in the late 1950's or 1960's. A pair of antique pastel drawings of a man and a woman, dating to the late 18th century or 1800, one is signed lower left with conjoined initials "FR". On the reverse of the female portrait is an affixed paper filled from edge to edge with writing in old German script, mostly illegible. Significantly however one can make out " Marz 1802" (see photo). Both are framed in the same elegant and ornate carved dark wood, which adds greatly to the overall appeal...
