Original charcoal drawing by Jean Hippolyte Marchand (French, 1883-1940). Initialed JHM l.r. Also with a gallery label verso from Crane Kalman Gallery, 178 Brompton Rd. London, which gives the name of the artist, the title of the work, and the name of the purchaser in 1967. Crane Kalman Gallery handled the estate of the artist and held a number of exhibitions of his work, including a retrospective exhibition in 1967.

A simply WONDERFUL mixed media rendition of a leopard/panther by an unknown master who has only signed this wonderfully naturalistic image as P G. No doubt dating to the Art Deco period this leopard exudes style, elegance and the wild.
I particularly love this image because the artist has obviously studied big cats, he understands exactly how they sit, the angle of the paws, the tilt of the head...
Absolutely delicious pastel of 'Tigger' a Border Terrier. The name of the dog was inscribed on the old backing board which sadly, like the frame was not in the best of condition. Tigger was obviously a beloved pet and I think the obviously very talented artist who drew this, must also have been Tigger's owner as love just pours from the paper. The pastel has been drawn on blue board allowing the Border Terrier to shine through...
Wonderful pencil drawing of an African elephant by the famous and much loved conservationist David Shepherd, who sadly died in 2017 and will be much missed by lovers of wildlife everywhere.
Besides being a conservationist Shepherd was a wonderful artist, capturing the spirit of his subjects with consumate skill.
