An antique truly American painting (not the more common similar-looking English scenes) with feathery tree at left, a few simple wooden houses, distant church steeple, and two tiny central figures, a manageable size at 22" by 30" (29 1/2" by 37 1/2" in the likely original framing), apparently unsigned. This old work came out of a dilapidated local home, having no doubt hung there for decades. When found it had a sheet of glass over the canvas...
Impressionist painting of harborside buildings, apparently American as original "$70.00" price on reverse appears adjacent to title "Fishing Village" and the 1965 date---although the subject appears more European. Work is on Masonite, and measures 18" by 22" as framed in white and black painted wood. That framing is scuffed and soiled, shows its age. A well-painted oil that reminds very much of the posters for JAWS, the terrifying 1970's movie in which an enormous shark terrorizes a summer beach coast community. The work is oil on canvas, 16" by 20", unframed, and is signed at lower right by artist Ryan Wells, dated nearby "10".
