Bruce A. Gomez is a Master Artist who is a Native American and mainly works in pastels, a medium that requires many, many layers. This work reminds us of the work of Turner who focused on weather and skies. An incredible work that photography does not do justice. Framed measuring 18.5” x 20”

A pastel on paper drawing of an urban alleyway with whitewashed structure and tiled roof, possibly in Mexico or other Latin country, signed at lower right by American artist "Dave M....", or similar. The work measures 14 1/2" by 10 3/4" inside the mat and 21" by 16" as framed. The artist has taken an everyday kind of scene and transformed it into a work of art. The art is in excellent condition as are the frame and mat.

Small (7 3/4" by 5 1/2" framed) pastel drawing titled on reverse "Sage on the Black Rock", signed at lower left and bearing the business card of contemporary Nevada artist Ruth Wood Cantrell, a member of the Reno Artist Co-operative. The Black Rock of course is best known as the site of the Burning Man festival, held every year in northwestern Nevada in one of the most remote locations in the lower 48 states...

The work retains on the backing a label indicating that this work was exhibited in the spring of 1996 at the Carnegie Art Museum in Oxnard, California...

A very accomplished pastel drawing in high key tropical-style colors, featuring a bird's eye view of the landscape around San Gimignano, the popular ancient Tuscan hilltop town in Italy, southwest of Florence, much beloved and frequented by tourists from around the world. The work, 13" by 10 1/4" (20" by 16" framed) is signed at lower right by contemporary artist Helen C. Butler. On the backing is a printed sticker of the artist giving the title. A very skillfully drawn pastel on paper rendering of the famous and iconic Taos Pueblo in northern New Mexico signed at lower left by artist "C Hanson". The unframed work is housed presently simply matted. Measurements of the sheet are 16" by 19". I have researched the name online and have not located an artist name that might correspond. Nevertheless the work is excellent, the Pueblo sort of fractured into a Cubist image, with diagonal lines and a flat picture plane...

Offered as a pair, pastel drawings of fruit (an apple, and an orange), each signed by contemporary Alabama studio artist JOHN KELLEY. The drawings are each 4" by 4", and 11" by 9" as framed in light wood. Kelley was born in St. Louis but moved to a rural area near Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he works diligently, producing paintings and drawings of fruit, four seasons landscape, and portraits. A lovely impressionist pastel drawing of a lady in 19th century dress with sun hat seated alone in a dreamy park-like landscape of spaced trees, signed at lower right "Lily Meade" (or, Lily M______", hard to decipher). The work measures 12" by 19" inside the mat and 20" by 27 1/2" in attractive gold frame in excellent fresh condition. The piece reminds of French late 19th century classic Impressionism, or may be after an actual, known work. Regardless, the lady artist was skilled with pastel...

Pastel drawing, unframed, 13 1/4" by 10" inside the mat, signed at lower right "Moran", the subject a small boat in a harbor, a headland in the distance crowned by a classic lighthouse. Primary colors are the colors of sunset...reds, oranges, yellow, brown..........the painting was purchased in the San Francisco Bay area but I have no idea as to the origin or identity of the artist. It is a work that shows the artist was skilled with pastel.

For the dog aficionado, especially those who prize the terriers, a 24" by 30" pastel of two white dogs lounging most comfortably on cushions in an upscale interior, while staring out placidly at the viewer. The piece is apparently signed in monogram at upper right within the oval, the monogram seemingly "AVB" or something similar. For a time I thought the work unsigned, but, the monogram does indeed appear to be a signature...

The work is very modern and there's a lot of energy in the dramatic forms. No doubt this was created in the 1980's to maybe just a few years ago. The artist's signature is difficult to make out...
