This is a print from the original woodblocks, of the work "Jongleur", 1938, from the series "Le Cirque de l'Etoile Filante (Circus of the Shooting Star) by the important French artist GEORGES ROUAULT (1871-1958). One of a number in my shop inventory, this is a fresh and clean example of one of William Russell Flint's fine color photolithographs issued for collectors over a period of decades. This example, published in 1961 in an edition of 750, is signed in pencil at lower right and bears the characteristic embossed blindstamp in lower left margin. The title is "The Shower". TWO antique original (not reproduction) lithograph prints with delicate, subtle hand coloring,by noted English artist and nineteenth century Middle Eastern traveler DAVID ROBERTS (1796-1864). The prints both measures 8 3/4" by 12 1/2" (14 1/2" by 18 1/2" as framed). Roberts is best known for his lithographed images of sites in the classical Middle East, of which these are typical examples. I've not examined these out of the frames but they do appear to be in excellent, clean condition...
