Print, after the original Maurits Cornelius Escher print "The Fall of Man" (1927), signed and numbered in pencil at lower left 25/100, but not by the artist himself; this is a work after the artist, likely a posthumous printing of the 1970's or later. The sheet measures 11 3/8" by 9 1/4" (28.9 cm. by 23.5 cm.), versus the somewhat larger 14 3/4" by 10 7/8" (37.5 cm. by 27.6 cm.) measurements of the authentic print. I contacted the M.C...
A clean example of the poster for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, pencil signed at lower right margin by the noted, avant-garde American artist, LYNDA BENGLIS (1941-). A number of artists were invited to create images for the series, and signed examples of these show up from time to time. This example (26" by 38" framed behind Plexi, making for easy shipping) is dedicated "For Harold Huttas". Benglis is a well-known Greek-American contemporary artist...
Etching titled "THE GREEN SHUTTER NEW ORLEANS", signed with initials in the plate and in pencil by the artist in margin, the sheet 9 7/8" by 7 3/4", framed as found in narrow black strip frame of the period. Buell was a noted woman etcher, active from the 1920's through the late 1950's. Born in Illinois, she received some art training at Oberlin College in Ohio, and further study at the Art Students League in New York and with famed etcher Martin Lewis...
This is a print from the original woodblocks, of the work "Jongleur", 1938, from the series "Le Cirque de l'Etoile Filante (Circus of the Shooting Star) by the important French artist GEORGES ROUAULT (1871-1958). The print is quite small, 2 7/8" by 2 1/8" inside the mat (9 1/2" by 8 1/4" as framed). I believe that this is from the edition published at a later date by the Collectors' Guild of New York, as other examples I have seen are identically framed, and with their label on the reverse...
One of a number in my shop inventory, this is a fresh and clean example of one of William Russell Flint's fine color photolithographs issued for collectors over a period of decades. This example, published in 1961 in an edition of 750, is signed in pencil at lower right and bears the characteristic embossed blindstamp in lower left margin. The title is "The Shower". The print measures 17 3/4" by 22 1/2" inside the mat and 26 1/2" by 30 1/2" as framed...
TWO antique original (not reproduction) lithograph prints with delicate, subtle hand coloring,by noted English artist and nineteenth century Middle Eastern traveler DAVID ROBERTS (1796-1864). The prints both measures 8 3/4" by 12 1/2" (14 1/2" by 18 1/2" as framed). Roberts is best known for his lithographed images of sites in the classical Middle East, of which these are typical examples. I've not examined these out of the frames but they do appear to be in excellent, clean condition...
Vintage and early Hawaiian art is scarce to rare, and desirable. This is a 1932 etching, "Hawaii Hall", one of the principal buildings of the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus, on Oahu. It is pencil signed at lower right margin. An image of this print is included in the university's yearbook for 1932. The work is presently unframed, behind a mat, and it is simply taped at top edge...
This is a museum poster or flyer issued by the Long Beach Museum of Art in 1972, advertising an exhibition that year of the paintings of the important and still highly underrated Swiss-California modernist HANS GUSTAV BURKHARDT (1904-1994). The unframed sheet measures 24 1/4" by 18", and bears the complementary signature of the artist in blue ink at lower right just below the black area of the central image. Burkhardt was born in Switzerland and arrived in America in 1924...
Wall-ready open edition modern color print from the Ethan Allan Home Collection, after the painting "The Parson's Cat", by the Dutch-born woman artist HENRIETTE RONNER-KNIP (1821-1909). The art measures 8 3/4" by 11 3/4" inside the double mat, and 19" by 21 1/2" as nicely framed. The artist's original oils regularly achieve the mid five figures at auctions, and a number have exceeded six figures...
Etching (5 5/8" by 7 1/2", 13 1/2" by 15" in pleasing old gold framing), titled on reverse label "Fishermen's Houses Saint Tropez", (French Riviera), pencil signed in the margin by listed California artist REGINALD WILMER VAUGHAN (1870-1958). The etching likely dates to about the 1930's or 1940's, I believe. Vaughan was born in Boston of blue blood stock (relatives were with George Washington at Valley Forge)...
Lithograph, 14 3/4" by 12 1/4" inside the mat, 21" by 18" as simply framed, signed in the plate at lower left "Merlin" and dated nearby 1939, also numbered (I think, also, in the plate, interestingly), 14/34 at lower right...
This is the 1928 (issue date) work "L'Eglise de Limours", dated and signed 1922 in the plate at lower left, after a painting by French School of Paris master artist MAURICE UTRILLO (1883-1955), with the graphic art assistance of also important master artist Jacques Villon. The work, unframed, and measuring 19 1/2" by 11 1/4" presently, is one of the very collectable "Chalcographie du Louvre" impressions. This notation appears at extreme bottom, and the names of Utrillo and Villon also appear ...

This is a PAIR of color aquatints, each 8 1/2 by 12 1/2" inside the framing, 11 3/4" by 15 3/4" as framed, the subjects Notre Dame cathedral and the famous booksellers by the Seine in Paris, and (I believe) the famous column at the Place Vendome, each print numbered at lower left out of editions of 500, and signed at lower right in pencil, by the noted French 20th century impressionist painter CHARLES BLONDIN (1913-1991). Blondin was active in Paris in the post war years, painting and creating v...
Carroll Thayer Berry is a familiar name in artistic circles in the state of Maine, as he was an artist, illustrator and photographer there for many decades. Born in New Gloucester, he grew up in Portland and there became enamored of the sea and seagoing. After study at the University of Michigan (naval architecture) he worked for engineering firms in New York and Portland, then still as a young man worked on murals in administrative buildings in the Panama Canal Zone. After study at the Penns...
This is an example of the rare and desirable Currier print "Woodcock Shooting", 1852, measuring 14 1/2" by 19 1/2" inside the mat, 20 1/4" by 25" as framed. Some of these are offered in fine print shops to $4,000 if in excellent condition. This one at first glance appears to be one of those---the print looks to the unaided eye to be in truly excellent condition---but upon closer examination, one can see that it has suffered major abuse in its lifetime, unusual even by the standards of abuse to...
